to the B1G, this could signal why Sankey did what he did. Is it possible that there are more behind the scenes dealings happening?

ND has been reluctant for decades to join the B1G. But the writing is on the wall that college football is rapidly changing. If you don't find a viable home before the storm hits; you will be left out.

The 12 team playoff was just a signal to those in the "know" that this thing is about to change drastically. With discussion of Clemson, Ohio State, Michigan and Florida State showing interest in the SEC, something has to happening that will blind side not only A&M but the entire football realm.

Is it possible that B1G talked with ACC to develop the first 20 team Super Conference. This triggered ND to find a home FAST. Word got out and Sankey acted to take the lowest hanging fruit available (tu and blowU).

If the NCAA is crumbling, and and the major conferences are looking to break away and take control of the sport for good, there's zero chance the SEC stop and UT and OU.

UT and OU are not low hanging fruit you DA. It fits better into the SEC footprint the anything and OU has a huge amount of tradition. One of college blue bloods.

I thought Notre Dame was locked in to the ACC, though I guess they could buy their way out of it

Notre Dame would go to the ACC not the Big Ten. You’re not pulling the talent needed to be a consistent top ten by playing almost all of your games in the Midwest*.

*Ohio State is the exception to this rule because of Urban’s recruiting gains in the South.

Low hanging because of their shitty unstable conference. Gonna be a lot harder to poach teams from the ACC of that's the way things go.

ND isn't going to the B10 they chose acc last year

Who would choose the B10 after what their leadership pulled last season? They completely bowed down and rolled over

Clemson boards are on fire about SEC being in serious talks with them.

As things are right now, South Carolina would make over $100 million per year more than Clemson beginning in 2024. Clemson's getting desperate and many believe they would leave the ACC for the SEC.

Florida State, along with Michigan and Ohio State (not sure how serious or if there's anything to it, but supposedly there is), are also talking to the SEC.

This whole thing is bizarre and mind-boggling.

If true, this all points to the sea change we've been expecting in college football. SEC is looking to run this sport.

Well.. that makes it official.
Realignment Talk is now open for business!

From high level sauces.. Notre Dame is NOW seriously considering the B1G for the 846th time in history.. TBD if this decision will be the same as all the others..

Yeah, keep thinking this is fake news. The buckeyes boards are going off on this too with SEC scenarios. They are melting.

Clemson or FSU would be fine, but frick OSU and Michigan. As Southerners, we have nothing in common with those Yankees.

Ohio State is an exception because they recruit like Alabama. They have kids from all corners of the country, not to mention Ohio and Michigan have a lot of in-state talent.

16 is already probably too many teams in one conference. Adding any more teams would defeat the purpose of even having a conference, especially this 20 team figure that keeps getting thrown around. It makes no sense whatsoever unless you have 4 more conferences, and divide each conference into two divisions, playing everyone in your division and each division winner getting a playoff birth. But at that point, why not just have 8 conferences of 10 teams if they want to make college football exactly like the NFL. In the current model 20 teams is stupid

If Ohio State is actually considering the SEC, I would assume that this is just a power play to try and finally land Notre Dame. That has been B1G’s dream school the whole time..

That being said, I know that Ohio State was pissed off about Covid..

BUT Ohio State (the school) is never going to the leave the B1G. The research $$$ is massive compared to sports revenues.. Perhaps they would consider joining for football only or something like that.. but I just don’t see it.
