If Lindy's is right, the Gators are doomed

I was looking at Lindy's position rankings for the SEC in this season's SEC preview magazine. Their outlook for UF is not good;
Their QB position is ranked 8th, their RB room is a respectable 4th. Then things go south....
Their WR room is 10th, their OL and DL are both ranked 14th in the conference. Yikes!
Any of you Gator posters wanna counter this prediction?

I predict 2-10 record but 1-11 is highly possible

A Florida D-line ranked 14th in the SEC is crazy.

I hate to admit it but I buy the magazine from the local drugstore every year. It helps me learn key players for opposing teams in the SEC and randomly Missouri.

This plus their schedule is going to make for a long year. I like it.

One of the hardest schedules I’ve ever seen.

I think y’all are going to miss Bowers this year. A go to guy like that can save your arse and are not easy to replace. Your qb will miss him.

quote:That's extremely pessimistic. Even though Billy hasn't really proven himself at the P4 level yet, I still think he's a decently good coach (certainly did well enough at lower levels to attract the attention of your AD) and you still have some good athletes on your team. I think you catch a couple teams taking the game too lightly while your players are going above and beyond. I say at least 5 wins. That won't be good enough to save Billy's job, but the schedule doesn't exactly do him any favors.
yes

Think Aaron Boone for Cashman and Hal for the Yankees
5 wins will definitely buy him a year. They’re already spreading propaganda saying he needs time via Tim Brando and blaming the fans for having too high expectations
5 or more wins he’ll be back in 25
4 wins ??
3 or less he’s done

It's a damn shame. Sport reporting has died. It's no longer accuracy or inside knowledge, it's now simply clicks.

What's the buyout if they fire him midseason this year?

The first half of the schedule is make or break
4 wins from the first 7 and steal 2 from the last 5 and he gets another year.
That means beating UCF or Miami
Tennessee or Kentucky
Samford
A&M or Miss St
Most likely wins in the back half are FSU, Ole Miss and LSU in that order.
I don't think it'll happen but one good thing about a schedule this hard is the team gets to see good teams every week. If you have a good coach that helps make you better.

It depends on what the team looks like. I mean if we are literally throwing away games like last year with idiotic and I mean truly idiotic penalties like 2 guys with the same number or vaulting the lineman on a punt or not having the FG team ready instantly to run on the field when knowing well in advance it needed to happen, then Billy might be gone. If we are playing competent football and just getting straight beat up, that’s a bit different. Here’s what I think the must win games are:
Miami: This has to set the tone.
UCF: This is to send a message
Samford: Obviously
Kentucky: To show we are on the right track
Texas A&M: Winnable
LSU: Winnable but tough
These should be winnable games with their heads screwed on straight but if we look like flaming hot trash, it’s just not going to fly. They can lose, just not look like dogshit while doing so. .500 with maybe some close losses to Tenn, UT, Georgia, Ole Miss will buy some more time I think.
