That 8-4 team had just hit it's stride. Go look at how many NFL players from each of those teams there are. Ole Miss had WAY more talent than they did.

Dont know much about ole miss football, do you? That team was 8-4 and unranked when they played Tech. They were 9-4 and ranked 20 when they won. Hell, that isnt even the best ole miss team of the decade. David Cutcliffe went 10-3 and finished 13th in the polls in 2003.

I wonder if an "Air Raid" attack would ever work in the SEC though.

Statistically?

Hal Mumme already proved that it could with Kentucky.

Now if makes them a better team? Who knows...

The 2008 Rebels would have shite stomped the 2003 team. That team lost to fricking Memphis and had a weak SEC ahead of them.

This. Imagine if the 08 team had Eli.

He couldn't even beat a mediocre Bama team with Mike Shula at the helm. 'Course Bama won that game with Joe Kines defense, and Jamie Christenson's foot ~ but still...

dumbass "secfan" thinks he knows more about Ole Miss Football than me. Do as another guy already said and check out the NFL talent on that 2008 team.

Compare that to the 2003 team. Just because we were unranked and 8-4 going into the Cotton Bowl doesn't mean we weren't better than Texas Tech.

Mike Leach would be a grand slam hire for Ole Miss. Far and away the best they could do or ever hope to do and might actually stay for awhile.

Does it really matter how much nfl talent a school has if they dont perform on the field? How bout 08 Oklahoma? They had more NFL talent than 08 Bama. Would they shite stomp them? Bad argument.

ASk yourself why you would hire a guy who couldnt beat the guy you just fired? Or Mike Shula?

ok....but we still lost to Memphis that year.

The only possible player who could make the 2003 team better than 2008 is Eli. But our defense and WR corp was spectacularly better in 2008 than 2003. Hell.....Wallace and Hodge are in the NFL right now. That 2003 squad didn't see a single skill player on offense go to the NFL. Just Eli and a few lineman.

Doesnt matter. See 2008 Oklahoma. NFL numbers doesnt compare to on field performance.

Your talking out of your arse. The 08' team was the most talented Ole Miss squad I have seen in my lifetime and may ever see.

Eli carried the 03 team the entire year.
