You would be incorrect. Tom Osborne at Nebraska didn't win his first national championship until his 22nd season with the Cornhuskers.

I agree to some degree but I think it is the combo of 2017 w/ 2021 much like the combo of 2008 and 2012 for Richt pretty much iced his chances of getting a ring in his career.

Smart seems like he could have a long prosperous career but he needs to cash in with a CFP ring soon lest they become a program just about getting recruits to the draft. Once that happens, it is a big risk that the program gets bad, selfish personality types that end up running your program into a ditch. Getting pro-bound players is a big part of the equation but you also gotta be known for winning conference and national championships so you get people who want to win as a team too.

If he doesn't win with this upcoming team. It ain't happening in Athens.

It's more likely that Kirby gets them in trouble for paying recruits than winning them a natty.

I said this the other day but I think it's difficult to overstate how big of a game that is for both programs. I don't think it's a playoff elimination game in Week 1 by any stretch, but in terms of program perception it's undeniably huge.

Took Saban and Dabo longer than 6 years to win a natty.

Give him any time frame you like, he isn’t an elite coach.

Georgia is not Alabama.

True but I remember when Georgia beat Auburn in SECCG in 2017. All Georgia fans were saying their program was in fact on par with Alabama ... was *another* Alabama iirc. I don't have a problem with it necessarily but I figure a lot of other fans do.

I do commend Georgia fans on this attitude. You guys definitely keep your HC's around for a while. I really hate the we must win in 2-3 years else we start elsewhere mentality. It really is bad in the NFL but has no place in college football imo.

4th winningest coach since becoming a HC and winning record against top 10 opponents. Elite recruiter and good coach imo. Who could UGA realistically replace him with right now who is better? I also doubt anyone called Dabo elite before he won his first natty.

In my view, Kirby has been a very good coach at Georgia.

We are breaking in nearly an entirely new secondary, Monty Rice from the LB core, our best pass rusher, and a big ? mark at OL.

Secondary is the only position of concern right now. Monty Rice really won't be missed as much as you think considering the time he sat out due to injuries. Our best pass rusher is being replaced by Nolan Smith, a former #1 recruit and Adam Anderson taking over the other side. The OL have so much talent Matt Luke bet not frick it up.

Definitely an odd take to say he hasn’t had a successful start to his career.

Yes, Kirby will get it done...and when he does, you will hate logging on here because you think we are insufferable now, wait until we get that Natty in 2022.

Now go point out coaches in their 5th season as a HC, not a bunch of experienced HCs at their second or third stop.

They really damn near won it closer than your team won their 2016 championship.

Unfortunately they have to play a tough team to win their conference unlike Clemson.

non-UGA fans saying we should win it all though. Then that will be used against us leading up to the fall as people claim we were "The offseason champs" once again.

Exactly, the non-UGA fans attempt to speak this shite into existence every year and not just on this board.

As soon as we play a shitty game or lose a game they all act like the sky is falling. They will create thread after thread with the same regurgitated titles and comments regarding "offseason champs".

The dumbest part is when other fan bases try to act like we are the ones starting this shite and try to use it as a counter argument in any UGA related thread.
