Why is it impossible for some people to grasp that its hard for a defense to do anything when your offense is trash? Its not NCAA 07 where the players never get tired.

We were supposed to be scared when they hired Ellis Johnson after he coached Southern Miss to an 0-12 season.

I even think Gus is starting to understand this. They don't seem to go as fast as they used to and they sub more on offense during a drive.

We'll never have the defense of a pro style offense. But we didn't run that many plays this year, and we still got worked. I like Ellis, but I don't think he's up to the challenge of fielding a strong defense in an offense-heavy, modern SEC.

Yep, it was all bama. A&M, UGA, and USCe had nothing to do with it. It was allllllll because of bama. Saban/Smart had better figure something out about Gus' O. Obviously they haven't figured out a damn thing.

Exactly. Pace wasn't the problem. Our defense was garbage in every single quarter.

i keep seeing Auburn can`t have an elite defense with the style of offense that is run..Alabama TOP in 2013 32.32 , AU`s 30.18..so 2 minutes less ball control time are going to make hardly any difference?

I'm sure Florida's 3-and-out offense had nothing to do with that. It's not like defensive players wear down when they are on the field for twice as long as their counterparts on the other team:
Florida Time of Possession: 20:44
Alabama Time of Possession: 39:16
Auburn would have smoked Bama with Florida's defense. You should be scared if they hire Muschamp as DC.

Auburn defense was not improving. A change needed to be made and I think Muschamp would be a great hire.
