This is a serious non-troll question, if Auburn manages to go 0-8 in the SEC for the 2nd time in four seasons, is Gus seriously not on the hot seat?

Going 0-8 in conference is like quite an ignominious feat. Going winless in conference is for the Vandy's and Kentucky's, and occasionally a bad South Carolina or Arkansas team or something.

The awful Alabama/Tennessee/Florida/LSU teams over the past few decade never went 0-8.

If Kentucky pulls out the win tomorrow AU going winless in conference becomes a very real possibility again.

The fact that Auburn is an underdog to Kentucky should tell you all you need to know about Gus as a HC.

As best I can tell AU is a 2 point favorite at the moment.

But regardless, it will likely be a close game that can go either way.

Gus couldn't survive that type of Season. Chizik was canned after 0-8 and he actually won the BCS championship game. Gus lost the BCS championship game and 0-8 would be the nail in the coffin.

-2.5 against Kentucky is as good as being an underdog IMO. This is a team that was in a NC and now they're barely a pick against one of the worst teams in the conference? C'mon.

Seriously, I doubt we could afford it. Our horrible AD gave Gus a large buyout and extension last year. If he does go 0-8 and then starts off bad next year, he gone.

Bret Bielema went 2-14 in conference and got a contract extension. Why not ole Gus?

I'll go out on a limb and say he won't be back if they go 0-8.

Chizik actually WON a title and was gone for going 0fer two years later.

Chizik lost the team. A curfew was set, a private security firm was hired, etc. The Duke Williams episodes were embarassing for sure but the team is still engaged. Auburn has two losses but the team hasn't quit.

It would have to take a dramatic turn for the worst. Something alongside the 0-8 for the program to consider giving Gus the boot. I think even if Auburn realizes that Gus isn't their man it's advantageous to keep him for another two seasons for some sort of job stability to sell to a future coach.

It really depends on the buyout language. Some say that it is vauge and we will have to pay the contact in full.

If we go 0-8, then Jacobs needs to be fired. No one will want him picking a new coach.

We cannot keep firing coaches ever 3 years as expect results. I'm for keeping Gus no matter the record. But he will need staff changes. His Yes Man Rhett Lashlee will need to go.

Whatever. When a team is favored, they aren't the underdog.
