Has there ever been a team ranked as high as 6 in the preseason to go on to a winless conference record?

Yep. Guess he's right about karma, because their program has been and will always be a big, heaping pile of dog turds that have beaten us two years in a row.

from your explanation, you are exactly as the question asked
You slow? Every program has down years and up years. However, it is usually over long periods of time depending on the coach. For whatever reason, Auburn has been year to year even with the same coach at the helm

Terry Bowden:

10-3, 6-2

to 1-5 and fired

Tubbs;

Success to 5-7, 2-6 in conference and then fired

Gene everybody knows the story and same with the gus bus

If he goes winless in the conference, I doubt he's fired, but JJ and Pat Dye will have a pow wow with him and tell him "Win next year or don't let the door hitcha."

The fact that Auburn is an underdog to Kentucky should tell you all you need to know about Gus as a HC.

We've already established a couple of times that this was incorrect.

There are a lot of SEC teams (including LSU) who have their ups and downs but I have to say Auburn is really about the most remarkable when it comes to feast or famine. To go from absolutely terrible (0-8) to outstanding (even 8-0) and then terrible again just isn't something we see a lot of from other SEC teams.

What is it about Auburn?

Your guess is as good as any. AU has never had stability. As you said, it's either feast or famine.

Dye was probably the most consistent in the modern era (I don't know anything about Shug and other coaches prior to Dye).

I heard a stat the other day that's mind blowing. AU has only had back to back 10 win seasons once in history. (Of course, 10 wins back then was equal to 11 nowadays, but still).

Gus is not as good a coach as everyone wanted to make him out to be when he had Cam. And he isn't as bad as everyone wants to make him out to be now. I actually think he's a decent coach who is dealing with a series of serious crashes. JJ isn't who we all thought he was going to be, they've had a few key injuries and things unraveled. It happens. There are two big differences between today's situation with Gus and Chizik's debacle: 1) Chizik lost the team and Gus still has a chance to keep them moving forward (even with a few stinging losses) and growing toward next year. The second one is the big one and it is the buyout. Auburn simply can't afford that big buyout right now.

Here's the rub, though. I think if Gus starts or even allows JJ to play against UK and JJ looks like he has this season and AU loses, it will get ugly quickly.

No troll, I do think AU is likely to lose a close game regardless of who plays QB tonight. If Gus plays JJ instead of sticking with White and taking the cuffs off of him so that he can throw the ball a bit, people on the Plains are going to lose patience in a big hurry.

The best thing Gus could do is play White and open the playbook. If that results in a loss, so be it. Admit you're still a work in progress and at least show a little progress. Revert back to the shitshow that was JJ in the first half of the season and people are going to jump ship.

You seem to be the slow one. Go back look at the topic.

This is a serious non-troll question, if Auburn manages to go 0-8 in the SEC for the 2nd time in four seasons, is Gus seriously not on the hot seat?
I'd be impressed if he managed to pull that off at is point, honestly
