If Auburn and Ole Miss have an equal # of fans, then why do Ole Miss fans care less?

If you break down the population of each state I would say Auburn and Ole Miss have an equal number of fans. My estimated number is in the range of 1.5 million fans for each school. Alabama has around 5 million people and Mississippi has around 3 million people.

My guess is about 30% of the state are Auburn fans and 70% are Alabama fans. This would give Auburn around 1.5 million fans. I would guess Ole Miss and Mississippi State are 50/50 and would have near 1.5 million fans each.

If these estimates are close to being true, then why does Ole Miss have a stadium capacity that is 25% less than Auburn? My only conclusion is that football means less to them than Auburn fans.

Lane Kiffin knows this as well. Auburn has the resources to compete with any school in the SEC. Auburn is currently tied in 4th place with Georgia in SEC Championship game wins. Auburn has won the west division 25% of the time. There's only so many elite coaches available and Auburn has come up on the short end of that stick for a long time, but if they ever hit on one then they could go a nice run.

Ole miss fans are just there for the party. Auburn fans actually care about the football.

Lol, ole miss and state is not a 50/50 chop, not even close! I live on the coast in ms, and there are way more lsu and Alabama fans here than anything. Plus you have a solid amount of southern miss and Jackson state fans.

There are plenty of Alabama, LSU, and Southern Miss fans in Mississippi. I also think there are more State fans than Rebs.

Southern Miss only exist in Hattiesburg when LSU isn’t playing

Do I need to lower Auburn's fan base from 30% to 20% due to the other 10% of random fans in the state? You missed the entire point that the State and Ole Miss fan base is pretty equal.

Or you could lower Alabama’s 70% to 60

Auburn is a much larger school in a much larger city in a much larger state with a much larger fanbase than Ole Miss. You've also been informed by multiple Mississippians, including an Auburn fan, that your breakdown of the allegiance of Mississippians is incorrect.

But go ahead, continue your idiotic troll if you want.

Auburn shares a state with the college football king. Alabama has the majority of fans.

That Auburn fan made a dumb comment. The Mississippians didn't disprove my theory either.

I think you are looking at wrong. Let's break down population relatively near the campus, because that is who you really need to fill the stadiums. Just looking at the "major" cities within 60 miles of campus (I said 60 because it is less than an hour drive and you cut out Memphis, Birmingham, and Atlanta which are all similar distances and would tip the scales even further towards Auburn):

Lee County, AL - 177,218
Montgomery County, AL - 228,954
Muscogee County, GA - 189,885
Total - 596,057

Lafayette County, MS - 56,884
Desoto County, MS - 188,633 (even though most of it is over 60 miles away)
Lee County, MS - 82,910
Panola County, MS - 34,707
Grenada County, MS - 20,758
Total - 383,892

I look at those numbers and think, why can Auburn only fill 87,451 with over 50% more population within 60 miles than Ole Miss with a 64,038 stadium?

Funny how you didn't include the Memphis metro area that's starts 50 miles from Oxford.

What do you assume about the fan allegiance breakdown of Shelby County, Tennessee?

Collierville is the only town in Shelby that’s within 60. Shelby county is a mix of all alumni bases as well.

dores97 didn't give a break down of alumni bases in the counties he mentioned.

Also, why are you so accepting of Southhaven on this list for Desoto County when they're +70 miles to Oxford.
