My divisions also allow for the best possible matchups in SEC championship games. Last years was good, but everyone knows in 2011 it would have been better if it would have been LSU vs Bama.

Mine allow for the best REGULAR SEASON matchups as well.

My divisions would give A&M the chance to play Arkansas, South Carolina, VT, Tennessee, and LSU every year.

That doesn't include each whole division you play either.

Based on all time winning percentage:

1. Alabama
2. Tennessee
3. LSU
4. Georgia
5. Florida
6. Auburn
7. Virginia Tech
8. A&M
9. Arkansas
10. North Carolina
11. Ole Miss
12. Missouri
13. South Carolina
14. Kentucky
15. Vanderbilt
16. State

We snake it. 1-4 and 4-1.

So...

Division 1
Alabama
A&M
Arkansas
State

Division 2
Tennessee
Virginia Tech
North Carolina
Vanderbilt

Division 3
LSU
Auburn
Ole Miss
Kentucky

Division 4
Georgia
Florida
Missouri
South Carolina

There you go. All time balanced pods.

Play everyone else in your pod plus all the teams from another pod, a protected rivalry game and (if the schedule goes to 9, a team that finished at your last year's position in another pod.

NFL style parity scheduling.

How will it be a good regular season matchup when this division

quote:

Division: Alabama, Auburn, Mississippi, Mississippi State

plays this division

quote:

Division: Kentucky, Tennessee, (VA school), Vanderbilt

Alabama would play

Auburn
Mississippi State
Ole Miss
Kentucky
Tennessee
Vanderbilt
and some VA school

Wait, I though the REC would love Bama having the easiest division?

1st off...no.

2nd off, your pod 3 is the easiest pod.

3rd off...just except that LSU will be in a western division with their rivals, aTm & Arky. It's not like LSU has any real strong rivalries with the original 12, with the exception of maybe Ole Miss (which can be a permanent cross-pod team for them).

No, this is propping up teams that suck. No rivalries that are permanent. Only permanent games are in your POD. Schedule them in a non-conference game otherwise. If you want to play someone every year lobby for them to be in your POD.

This is actually the number 1 thing I though of when the first expansion happened. Our pod will look like it belongs with the Big 12.

Remember the POD is only going to be 1/3 of your games. Not having a tough POD does not mean a cakewalk to the SEC championship game.

Actually, a 4 division conference is perfect for permanent rivals. After playing your own division and another division, you will have only played 7 SEC games. So common sense is to just add 1 more from each division.

You don't have permanent rivals and when they pick your team to play 2 teams from the other division, there will be a lot of butt hurt.

But you are failing to include the permanent cross pod teams. If you go back and look up my 9 game pod alignment, Bama would also be playing UF & Arky.

You have no rivals, so why do you care if you play in the Big 12 Pod?

If you go to a 9 conference game schedule, then you would have a cross-pod game from each pod. So UGA could still have auburn from the Delta pod, and UF from the Atlantic pod.

That's alot of permanent cross divisional games, which affects how long it takes to play everyone in the conference. 3 permanent cross div games means it would take 6 years to home/home everyone in conference, while no permanent games takes four years. 3 permanent games means 4 year players will not play every conference team in their career.

No permanent cross POD rivals. Get them in your POD if you want them every year or schedule them non conference instead of, oh I don't know, Michigan maybe?

That doesn't work when:

Alabama-Auburn
Alabama-Tennessee
Arkansas-Missouri
Arkansas-LSU
Arkansas-Texas A&M
Auburn-Georgia
Auburn-Florida
Florida-Georgia
Florida-Tennessee
Georgia-South Carolina
Kentucky-Tennessee
LSU-Ole Miss
LSU-Mississippi State
LSU-Texas A&M
Mississippi State-Ole Miss
Tennessee-Vanderbilt

All have a strong case as to why they should be played yearly

So besides UF, it will be a cake walk for Bama. I don't even see how you could enjoy a schedule like that for your team. There would be a very strong possibility that Bama would only play 1 ranked opponent in that scenario.
