I guess, if you claim titles like Bama does. Everybody knows the only ones that matter from that era are AP and UPI.

Thank you Tuscaloosa. They knew they were champions

We are simply discussing comparative legitimacy. The 1964 Arkansas Razorbacks football team was named National Champions by both major polling organizations who conducted their polls at the conclusion of the bowl season. As you probably know, the AP and UPI both released their final poll prior to bowl games back then.

Comparatively, the 1935 LSU basketball team wasn't selected a champion by anyone of the era, nor were they selected retroactively.

You can say that about most good teams.

Bama on the road will be tough. There will likely be a hiccup somewhere. But yes, Tennessee sets up well for LSU.

Coleman Coliseum has always been a house of horrors for LSU. Even in LSU's best days in the late '70s and 80s, the Tigers won there twice. I think I heard today LSU has only won there twice since 2000. I think even the team with Chris Jackson/Stanley Roberts/Shaq lost there. Bama usually has good teams, but even when LSU has had the better team, it has struggled to win there.

One national championship.

This is news to me. Do we actually have a national title?

I don't think anybody associated with LSU actually claims that title. But truth be said, in 1964 bowl games were not considered when determining the national championship. Furthermore, the champion as deemed by AP/UPI voters were the only ones universally accepted by media and fans alike.

We could easily have 3 more wins. See what I did there.

you have to start talking about LSU as a 1 seed.

If they win out, yes.

Don't forget the anti-sec bias in March.

The only thing LSU’s resume was lacking coming into the UK game was a “marquee” win. Obviously LSU has that now. LSU is strong in all the other metrics, including SOS and Q1 Q2 record.

As of today, LSU has legitimately entered the Top10-15 discussion and is playing for a potential 2-3 seed.

If it is, that's embarrassing, we're becoming Texas A&M.

How many quantifiable metrics was Kentucky better than LSU in?

It is. The best team from the south was selected to play the best team from the East(PITT). LSU had a huge comeback to win in the second half. It was a championship game. The NCAA only recognizes tournament champions starting in 1939. Notice the banner does not say NCAA champions. But it was the National Championship. The two best teams were selected.
They played the extra game.

Too bad Rick Barnes chokes when facing actual talent. Carmelo Anthony, anyone?

Texas has zero (0) history in basketball outside of Barnes. Incredible that he was able to lift that nothing program to the heights he was able to.

That LSU basketball team didn't win a tournament

How many titles does Alabama claim for football before the playoffs were introduced?

In 1935 LSU was invited to play an extra game at the end of the season billed, at the time, as the American Legion Bowl National Championship game.

Think of it kind of like Alabama's pre-AP Rose Bowl wins.

Tennessee has only played two top 25 teams and they are 1-1. Meanwhile LSU is 3-2 vs Top 25 teams. LSU is more battle tested than Tennessee. Tennessee has had a cake schedule so far, and I think the fall down the stretch.
