The guy took a better job somewhere else after 6 years.

Any other profession this is congratulated.

I appreciate most things about his time in Oxford. That’s not it. It’s how he left that annoys me. Nothing more.

Right or wrong, I just wish Lane could have left in a way that didn't create such animosity. Maybe that can never happen,

I don't think it was really possible.

If he left before the Egg Bowl, people would have thrown a fit about that.

Staying through the playoff doesn't seem to have been an option without signing the extension.

Maybe he shouldn't have sent his family around to look at the cities, but that's pretty common. No one is flight tracking Jon Sumrall's wife though. Kiffin's level of fame caused a lot of this.

I don't know what he realistically could've did differently to placate Ole Miss fans other than stay.

Ole Miss fans are certainly welcome to tell me.

I could see how this logic would make sense to you if there were well over 100 presidential offices but…..

It's been fun seeing you try to talk yourself into Pete... who by the way, was never in danger of leaving Oxford even if you named him the interim and had a coaching search only to later remove the tag if he was truly the best candidate after an actual search.

Once the decision was made then just like any other breakup where one side does not really want to breakup, there is simply no "good" way to leave and there was no other option but to go (like don't let the door hit you in the arse type of go).

Lane will likely be successful wherever he coaches even at LSU. So just be thankful your AD/Donors/Governor got it done.

Remember signing day? Hard to recruit players to a team when you have no clue who the coach is going to be.

It’s been fun watching you attempt logical thought. Lane fricked us on a coaching search timeline. Full stop.

They’re desperately needing more validation than to think of the above for themselves.

Which is why you make Pete the interim to stabilize things.

It's been done in the past. How do you not understand how this works?

Ole Miss is hardly the first program to lose a coach at this point of the calendar. Other teams have managed just fine without making a panic promotion without a search.

Now you are just lashing out. Settle down, sport.

The irony here is wild from the Rebel fan trying so hard to validate the Pete panic hire

We’d be mostly through with this if LSU fans would stfu. It’s all they post about is Ole Miss. not just here. It’s on a different level on X and other social media.

LSU fans have been awful, but lol if you think Ole Miss fans haven't been just as dumb in all this.

Not sure anyone doubts Lane's success. Most aren't mad particularly that he left, it's just the way in which he left. Posting all of the Kiffin 2026 stuff when people realized he was likely gone, basically whining the entire post Florida presser cause KC had let him know that week that he wasn't coaching the playoff, refusing to talk about your heisman trophy candidate QB and RB and promote them on social media cause it would make someone else the story, and then trying to burn the shite down at the end cause KC held true to not letting him coach the playoffs. It was just a bad look to a fanbase and team that has done nothing but support you and given you everything you've asked in 6 years.

Delusional!

I would agree with you, but then we’d both be wrong!

As if Saban didn’t leverage his abilities to garner higher wages. He was so selfless! LOL

On the other hand, Kiffin was so very selfish that he allowed his offensive coaches to help OM throughout the playoffs! What did he get in return? Snarky remarks from that unkempt and ungrateful mophead. Did Kiffin retaliate and forbid his coaches from helping our OM friends against UGA? NO! You should sit this one out!

Saban never caused or elevated drama and put the focus on him.

The fact Kiffin took everything with him in the middle of a playoff run to begin with is kind of the point.

There is a good chance he just missed his only chance in life to win a playoff game as a HC.

Realistically, the timeline was what fricked you. Lane left when coaches usually leave.

What exactly did Kiffin do to elevate drama or put the focus on himself?

People keep saying this but there haven't been any examples posted.

Is he required to hire an entirely new staff just because they happened to be in a playoff run?

He should have shut it down from the start. But sure, ti's just a coincidence that every other hire and coach out there whose names have been mentioned generate little hype and the entire Kiffin thing was the most public crap I think I've ever seen watching the sport.

You're not required to do anything. But if you abandon your team in the middle of a playoff run you're a selfish piece of shite.
