Question to the Mizzou fans...do you think the recruits from Texas are wanting to go to Columbia or do they stay within the Big 12 area? I think that the move to the SEC may hamper the pipeline you had in Texas and you guys may have to look elsewhere...thoughts?

I honestly think it is going to be tough to keep the Texas pipeline long-term, especially if we won't be in the West, playing aTm every year. As long as Pinkel and his staff are at Mizzou, I think we'll still get some decent recruits from Texas every year due to the great relationships he and his staff have established there.

But that said, I think we'll see a slow shift east in terms of recruiting focus. We'll see how successful it is, but with the current recruiting class limits and the abundance of talent in the South, there is no reason we couldn't at least be mildly successful down the road.

As to the OP's comment, I think Mizzou will win 3 or 4 conference games and we should go 4-0 OOC for a 7 or 8 win season. The game at Tennessee is the toss-up in my eyes - they return a ton of players and winning at Neyland will not be easy, but as long as Dooley is the HC I won't count us out.

Mizzou pulling out of TX is a mistake

To sas and kilos point, I don't expect a full out evacuation of recruiters in texas, but the number of offers headed to the buckle state do appear to be down this year. Could have to do with an exceptionally deep year for in state kids. One thing to keep in mind is that Pinkle and Co have buttered their biscuit with underrated 3* kids. They have done a remarkable job of developing kids.

You guys really think you can pull out of Georgia? Right now, UK is getting scraps and some hidden gems in the state...I just do not seeing players heading to Mizzou when they can stay closer to home.

Its going to take time and money, but Mizzou has already reassigned recruiters to GA and FLA. We won't out-recruit UGA or other top SEC schools for Georgia kids. But we didn't out-recruit Texas, OU, or TAMU for Texas kids either. We'll have to rely on those hidden gems that you mentioned. We already pulled in two TE from FLA this year. Probably not world beaters but its a start.

Good points and I think that is the stark reality the program is facing moving into the very deep and talented SEC.

Can the program have success in the SEC by turning out underated 3* kids?

I dont think it can have an established success with the recruting plan HCGP has used to pull the program out of the dumpster. ITs an evolution of the program and I think that the coaching staff will look to transition into trying to recruit more hig profile kids. Now whether this will work or the move to the SEC will stall out the forward progress made in the last 6-7 years or boost recruiting, only time will tell.

I'm excited to find out how this all plays out in the end.

One of the biggest benefits of the SEC is that it will help lock down the in state kids. I'm not saying MO is as talent rich as the South but in the past Mizzou lost a LOT of the top kids to the Big 10 and other traditional powers like Nebraska and OU. But I think kids like DGB will now want to stay home and play in the best conference in the country. And hopefully we'll be able to turn the tables and steal some kids from Big 10 states as well.

I don't think so. It will be exciting/nerve wracking to see how long it takes to establish in the new stomping grounds!

The more I think about it, the more it freaks me out, but HCGP and staff have brought us this far, gotta believe they have a plan going forward!

Mizzou is scoring 32 ppg against the SEC under Pinkel. Of course that was against the likes of Arkansas (2), Ole Miss (2) and South Carolina. Not exactly the best representatives of SEC defenses.

Mizzou got a nice break (for the time being) by being shipped to the East. I figure they will be in the West within 5 years.
