You think it’s bad now, wait till:
1 Lane announces he is leaving but wants to coach the playoffs.

2. Ole Miss AD says thanks but no thanks, we got this.

3. Lane goes full bitter cheating ex with knowledge of Ole Miss player salaries and doubles up your best players if there’ll protest the playoff & enter the portal before the playoff game.

4. Lane is the cheating vengeful charismatic trophy wife of CFB.

He wanted to avoid that to maximize the chance he has to coach OM in the playoffs.

Florida has tried to help that by putting gag orders on certain topics for various people connected to the search so we don't start seeing details that might upset the OM fans. The wording of KC's statement was the way it was because this week they are gauging fan and booster reaction to Kiffin potentially coaching in the playoffs.

I believe those gag orders have recently extended to support staff in the AD as well. Florida also just canceled a volleyball game scheduled for next Sunday to open up a space on campus for... Something.

I have no idea if LSU has done similar or not. Last I heard my contacts at UF still felt good about Florida but I haven't heard anything since the LSU stuff came out late yesterday.

This has been an amazing case study of how to destroy something you worked hard to build in just a matter of days.

I feel bad for Ole Miss and its supporters because by all accounts they really did everything they could to provide Kiffin whatever he needed in order to build a successful program. And he did. Ole Miss has a solid team who has demonstrated they can compete with pretty much any team out there.

I think there’s a very good chance he’ll look back someday with deep regret.

If Lane is here for 5-6 years, has great success…..and moves on? Fine with it. We have lost great coaches before and found others to get the job done. We will after Kiffin too. NFL would be my concern.

Since Kiffin has basically dropped a nuclear bomb on all his bridges at Ole Miss I think he pretty much has to win the title this season to repair some of the damage.

I think youre 100% right. Hell be coaching LSU or UF next season
