Catch 22. You're villianized if you do not interview a black coach. So when one has the credentials to be trusted after giving a great interview and is hired what then? You are yet again the villain for firing a black coach. It's an obstacle where you'll come out looking like an a-hole as AD. either way.

I'm not sure if you are joking or not, but this is more than likely the truth.

If Avery were a white coach, he would be given another year.

It's truly sad and it makes me sick. We need more African-American coaches in the sport that can relate to these kids. Avery brought them to the post-season every year. Alabama fans have an inflated ego, and saw an African-American scapegoat and went for his throat.

It is a fact. They will deny it, but I know this to be fact. I live this fact every day.

They won't find anybody better because Alabama isn't a destination job. They just wanted to rid themselves of the African-American coach. That's truly all that mattered.

What a load of nonsense. We've had a black basketball coach for the past 10 seasons. We kept one of them for 6 seasons with only 1 tournament appearance.

Any coach making top 15 money like Avery deserves to be canned if they can only make 1 tournament in 4 years. It's not even hard to make the tournament.

Anyone race baiting because a guy making $3 million annually was fired should be ashamed. There are people in this country with serious issues. Avery Johnson is not one those of people, and he was given every chance to succeed here.

He’s our guy. Played at Alabama. Has a great resume. I’d take early NCAA exits every year over being a bubble team every damn year.

Way to reach for the sky guys.

No the hell he didn't. He moved to Atlanta then played at Oglethorpe, then quit, and transferred the gump university. He was an team student manager while getting a degree in education. Never played there.

Don't act like he's some born and bred gump.

Congratulations. That as likely the most closed minded, racist posts I have had the privilege of laughing at. The University of Alabama gave a man a job when he was out of work and fired from his last job. With no known prospects for another job. Stuck with him for four years of mixed at best results (5K fans showed at a home tournament game) with no improvement from the last person who held the job. Another minority btw. And is in fact disrespectful of Avery Johnson, casting him as a pitiful victim. As to your ignorance about a great and fair university show me any SEC school or deep south school that has hired back to back black coaches. You can't. It is unprecedented. And for his four years at Alabama he leaves a multi-millionaire. In position to retire.

Your envy is showing. Your runaway jealousy of the greatest football legacy known to man to be exact. Quit wasting time showing your failings and get your own program off and going. Maybe that will full fill you.

Alum and student manager. The most dedicated of them all in many, many cases. Quit embarrassing yourself. He went there because that is where he wanted to be! Whether he would have success is up in the air but yeah, for better or worse he's one of us.

He is a Gump. Would be a good hire, but the pressure at ISU is less. Bama facilitates are behind most in the SEC. recruiting would not be a problem.

Instead they’re looking at even worse coaches.

So that means the University of Arkansas must be up for an NAACP image award!

This is how we get to the truth. I agree. The only way to find out if you are right vs wrong is to let Avery coach another season and see if the fans support him.

If they don’t support him - they are racist.
