quote:Yes, he will win the Butkus next year, but being snubbed by the SEC means they are no better than the laughable Big 12 awards last year.
Texas has the #3 total defense and Ant Hill has 90 tackles and more sacks than the Georgia LB and neither made All SEC first team for LBs.
Abosultely silly

58 total tackles!???? That's it!?
Are you kidding me?
This is getting ridiculous
Popularity Trophies at this point and you can't even go off of his previous years stats either because he only had like 36 tackles in 2023!
This is shameful
Did Georgia pay for the Trophy or what?
He's a pass rushing OLB as opposed to an old school LB who hangs back and makes tackles.
He had 10.5 TFL and 6.5 sacks.
And he showed up in big games.
Clemson (1.5 TFL, 1.5 sacks)
Bama (1.0 TFL)
Texas #1 (3.0 TFL, 3.0 Sacks)
Ole Miss (1.0 TFL)
Tennessee (1.0 TFL, 1.0 Sacks)
Texas #2 (3.0 TFL, 1.0 Sack)
Literally, all of his TFL stats came in UGA's biggest games. He didn't no-show in any of them. He had 0 tackles against UMASS and 3 vs TTech... but so what? If he had 20 tackles in those 2 games and ended up with 75 total tackles would it have meant he was more deserving? Not really. He got rewarded for his play in the games that mattered, not stat padding against cupcakes.

Since Ant Hill was floated as being more deserving...
His biggest opponents.
8 tackles, 1.5 TFL, 1 Sack vs UGA (good game)
5 tackles, 0 TFL vs A&M
6 tackles, 1.0 TFL, 0 sack vs UGA #2.
Games where he racked up big stats:
Texas San Antonio - 11 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 Sack
OU - 11 tackles, 3.5 TFL, 2 sack
UK - 11 tackles, 4.0 TFL, 2 sack.
So what's more important... putting up great lines against poor opponents or showing up better in the most critical games a team has?

Jalon Walker will be a really good NFL OLB as his game translates better against drop back passers - he honestly reminds me of lot of Micah Parsons.

I think its been established this year Georgia is a bad matchup and a better team when it matters. No one is denying Georgia has beaten Texas twice
(although the second time could have easily gone Texas way and Texas missed out on so many uncharacteristic drops, fg missed, penalties, Georgia fumbling 3-4 times and getting them all back, etc)
What is funny is team SEC ( assume given most hate Texas here) craps on our schedule given to us from the SEC offices, crowns teams who beat another SEC ranked team, yet has no issue with those same teams losing to the bottom half of the league, the same teams you people are saying makes Texas schedule trash. You can't have it both ways. Could Texas have gone 3-0 against Tenn, Ole Miss, SC? Sure, could they have gone 0-3? Maybe. More likely they are 2-1 which could have still landed them in the SEC champ and all this SEC schedule talk is nonsense.

Copium.
High level, unadulterated copium.
Ignore all of the things Georgia had to deal with - both games - and focus on the sweet, sweet copium.
Therefore, Texas is never the inferior team.
Copium.

I already said Georgia was the better team the first game and the second it was a coin flip, it went to OT.
What did Georgia have to deal with? Both teams have injuries. You played your backup who statistically moved the ball better than your starter cause he can run and we didn’t prep for it, stupid on our part.
What did Georgia have to do”deal with” and what did I say that was false?
1) Did your wr and rb and qb fumble multiple times and the ball bounced right back to you? Yes
2) did Texas have many pre snap penalties that killed them, including a false start on the field goal our kicker made? Yes
3) did our kicker miss multiple kicks? Yes
4) did we have the most wr drops this game of any this season? Yes
Sorry you don’t like facts.
Georgia won and deserved the win and while I don’t feel UGA is head and shoulders better you are the better team and a bad matchup for us, period.

The Truth remembers when the (super classy) Texas fans gave a standing ovation for their backup who then proceeded to mimic a deer in headlights and shart himself in front of Matthew Mcconnagay

Georgia has to start the second half - with Texas in the lead - with a back-up QB who has never in his career played any meaningful minutes in college.
Texas fan - with a straight face:
Zero self-awareness from Texas fan. SHOCKER!

Who did better than your starting qb because we didn’t prep for him just like lsu shite the bed when Aggie changed qbs.
Again you earned it, won, and he played a great half of football. I already said Georgia is the better team this year.
However? Georgia fan disregarding every lucky break your team got that game with a straight face zero self awareness shocker lol.
What did your team do to cause the self inflicted prenatal penalties? What did your team do to have 4 fumbles bounce your way, or cause our wr to drop wide open passes (just like your wr did in Austin), or cause our kicker to miss marketable field goals? Nothing, your team did nothing. Texas made self inflicted mistakes that cost them the chance to win the game period.
Just like Georgia made plays to win the game. Both can be true but at the end of the day Georgia was the better team and got a majority of luck go their way in the seccg. Good for y’all. If we see ya again hope it evens out.

shite total team defense means you are on the field all day having to make tackles

Demeco Ryans set the UA record for tackles in a season being the only man who could tackle on the worst defense of the 21st century in Tuscaloosa. His best season was 2005 but he damn near had half the tackle he did in 2003.
He was an exceptional linebacker but he really wasn't the unanimous All-American he was in 2005.
Totally agree with the tackles for a linebacker being like wins for a starting pitcher. It's not a bad stat but it isn't necessarily a descriptive one w/r/t quality of the player.

Dude. Here's a novel concept for you to consider:
The luck has already evened out - at the very least. And Georgia outplayed and out-coached Texas. Twice. Once in your place, and once in the SECCG with a backup QB after Texas had the lead.
The only reason you think otherwise is straight up, unfiltered, un-registered, high mineral content Copium.
Just. Stop.
