why has the offense been so mediocre in the last two years?
Ranked in the top 25 in scoring offense each of the last two years (ranked #18 in the country this past year). When is the last time Alabama fans have been able to say that?
Came in 3rd in the SEC in scoring offense - behind only Auburn and Arkansas.

We also ranked 5th in the country in the Turnovers Lost category - which is a HUGE reason for our success.

We have averaged 30+ points per game for 3 consecutive years. That's only happened ONE other time in school history.
If we manage to average 30+ points per game this year - it will be the first
You need to add that you've never played 3 cupcake OOC games a year either before 2006.
49+ ppg vs non-conference (1st)
27+ ppg vs conference (5th)

Still pretty damn good. I can't remember any point during my lifetime that Bama averaged 27 points per game against stout SEC competition.

I have never seen a fan so unreasonably hard on a coach and a player that haven't even done that bad.

I also don't remember the last time Bama didn't score less than 21 points in a single game.

I really hate Jim McElwain
I've seen Greg McElroy attempt more passes downfield in two games for the Jets than he did during his entire career at Alabama. Greg McElroy actually hasn't looked too bad tonight. Couldn't believe my eyes when I saw him fire a 20-yard bullet over the middle for a nice first down.
So after two years of McElroy hate, it's Jim's fault. You're the worst poster on this site. Message boards are known for having homers and morons. You make the typical idiot seem like a genius. I couldn't imagine how you survived during the Shula years.

Your knowledge of all things football is amazing. I guess you are probably either the top rated OC in all of college football history or at least the QB that holds most of the NCAA passing records. Am I right?
Then again, maybe you are just some wanna be that still has not figured out that there are a whole bunch of people here that get amusement from your lame arse schtick. Did you ever stop to consider the McElwain works for a defensive minded coach that wants to make certain that his OC and QB first and foremost manage the offense to take advantage of opportunity and not create opportunity for the other team?
I always thought the goal was to win the game. GMac and McElwain seem to have done a pretty good job of that under the direction of CNS. I hope McElwain and company continue to do just that again this year.

As best I can tell (I've gone back through 1950), the only other year besides 2010 that Alabama has ever scored at least 21 points in every competition was 1973.

GMac and Barker were pretty similar in what they had to do. I'd be interested in Bench's thoughts on Barker.

Pretty much tired of fighting the same battle with pretty much the same too ignorant posters, that being Bench and Brad Pitt.
While last years offense was extremely talented it was rarely hitting on all cylinders and it had little to do with play calling.
Julio, Ingram, and Trent were all injured at some point last year. While they didn't miss that many games, they were still banged up and played that way at times.
It should also be noted that the OL was banged up much of the year. Fluker, Jones, and Vlachos all missed games. Not too mention that there were other new guys up front that needed to gel. The OL underperformed last year, for whatever reason.
And finally, I've probably made this same point a million times with you two goofballs, but if you want to fire Jim McElwain, you mine as well pull the trigger on Nick Saban. It ultimately is his offense. It is very much NFL centered and that is a direct reflection of Nick Saban.
It goes in the tank with a big lead, because Nick Saban wants to sit on the lead. You honestly think Jim McElwain was down for 3 yards and a cloud of dust in the 2nd half of the Iron Bowl?
It doesn't matter if we go out and hire Norm Chow or go dig up Homer Smith, the offense is going to look almost identical, because Nick Saban wants it to.
Get over it.
"Throw the ball downfield" which by the way we have done quite a bit the past three years isn't the answer to everything.

Nice transition thread. Now BM has a new no.1 cause to champion.
How all you Bama fans continue to hang all over every word the OP post is perplexing. Keep giving him what he so desperately wants and of course he will continue the same tired routine.
