If it was said in the past, contemporaneously, how is that a "crawfish" in the future?

I don’t have to name a better alternative first before I say this was a bad hire lol

I don’t keep up with coaching hires that much so I don’t know who or who wasn’t available. It’s Bama so I’d think anyone was available.

It was pretty obvious at the time that this was a horrible hire for the level of program that Bama was and his resume was pretty underwhelming.

Sorry that apparently you thought this would work and now look silly. It’s ok to admit that it wasn’t a good hire.

I mean if he's better than all the alternatives, how could it be a bad hire that cycle?

You along with pride have become caricatures at this point

Yes, I would love to see you try to explain how the best option being picked is a bad choice, in terms of decision-making.

Look at his resume. Just because it was the best of a shitty crop doesn’t mean it was a good hire lol

It’s wild that you don’t see this. But I bet you do and this is the only way to defend your beliefs that he was the next saban lol

Nobody was going to look good following Saban.

So your alternative was to hire...nobody?

Your argument makes no logical sense.

There is only one Saban, especially in the NIL era.

de facto yea lol. Certainly don’t pay this guy that much. This seems really really hard for you? lol

So what exactly did you say then?

Deboer took freakin Washington to the championship game before getting the Bama job. I don’t think Deboer realized the amount of pressure that comes with replacing Saban. That roster he inherited last year wasn’t loaded with NFL players like in the past. I can’t believe they didn’t get a QB in the portal for this year. I think that might cost him his job this year. He will bounce back at a mid level job and have moderate success there.

I'm not even saying he wont wind up being ok, I'm saying I never got the panic hire. Which it was.

So you’re admitting you’re an idiot. It’s been explained repeatedly this wasn’t the case. Were you not alive two years ago to remember?

As for Lanning he released a statement mid Alabama coaching search frenzy when he seemed to be the target that he was staying at Oregon.

Its just surprising Alabama was completely off guard and didn't have a plan in place for when Saban left. How did the program win 6 national titles in like 10 years and have literally no one from within to take over the reigns? Urban left the program with Ryan Day when he left Ohio state for example. Why didn't Saban/Alabama have someone coaching alongside Saban and being groomed to take over?

How is hiring the best option a "panic hire"?

You've yet to explain this.

Who was a better option that was actually an option?

Here is a Yardbarker ranking of the hires at the time

1. DeBoer
2. Elko
3. Manny Diaz
4. Bill O'Brien
5. Bronco Mendenhall
6. Jedd Fisch
7. Willie Fritz
8. Curt Cignetti
9. Ken Niumatalolo
10. DeShaun Foster

Do I need to keep going?

Who do you pick over DeBoer, especially at the time?

Let success get to their head. “We are bama. This will just continue no matter who’s here.”

All those guys were HCs at major programs

Kirby, Sark, Lane, etc.

I mean hell even Brian Daboll was an NFL coach.

Alabama is also arrogant and probably thought Dabo, Lanning, etc. would come crawling to them.

Urban is a merc. He left Florida in shambles when he faked his health issues.
