It's just plain tough to do much better than 9-3 given their schedule. But...both Mississippi schools could be down this year and who knows what A&M team will show up

So understand this for UGA in 1980:
- Their quality opponents in 1980 were two 8-win teams: Florida and SOUTH CAROLINA.
- They played two 1-win teams on their 11-game regular season schedule.
- 8 of the 11 teams they played on their regular season schedule had losing records.
- Their regular season opponent winning percentage that year was 37.8% (their average opponent was a 3 or 4 win team).
- The Sugar Bowl saw fit to have them face a Notre Dame team that already had a loss *and* a tie in the regular season for the "national championship" game.
Since (and including) 1980, UGA has 1 national championship and Auburn has 1 national championship.
Since (and including) 1980, UGA has 1 perfect season, Auburn has 3.
Since (and including) 1980, UGA has 5 SEC football championships, Auburn has 7.
Since SEC expansion in 1992, both UGA and Auburn have been to five SEC Championship Games. UGA has won 2, Auburn has won 3.
Since 1980, UGA has had 1 Heisman winner, Auburn has had 2 (the most recent hailing from the state of Georgia).
Since 1980, UGA has had 1 player picked 1st overall in the NFL Draft, Auburn has had 3.
But as long as they keep winning their Super Bowl against Auburn every year, pups are happy!

It is quite comical that Auburn fans think every year is their year, yet they end up flailing. I'm guessing they go 7-5 this year. Gus will be sitting around with Butch, Bert and Sumlin at the end of the year wondering wtf just happened.

No, actually its just another way to point out that as highly as you think of yourselves, the UGA programs hey-day that was in the early 1980's was based on weak opponents.
Then prior to that, UGA's hey-day was in the late 1940's.
Considering the above, it seems like y'all somehow achieve something fairly notable about once every 35 years, so maybe y'all are due?
