Oh yeah, I forgot that Saban recruited all those guys.

Who are you talking about? Other than Rolando McClain, I don't know who fits this description. And I don't know how he spent his money, I just know he has made some bad decisions lately.
No one in particular. Just the lifestyle some choose to live for the first few years dramatically effect their livelihoods just a few years down the line. Spending multiple checks on luxury items, getting cut a year or two down the road, losing multi million dollar endorsments, and then having no choice but declaring bankruptcy isn't exactly the lifestyle I would choose. However, it's becoming more and more common amount top athletes.
If you want a decent example look no further than Chad "Ocho Cinco"

My bait? You're the one that used Cam Newton as your "counter argument". Now your argument is to compare a #1 draft pick to a bunch of QBs that were never projected to do much in the NFL. Funny as frick as that you talk about Cam as being comparable to Eli.

Well, I can't disagree with that. It's not really surprising that so many athletes who have been given everything for a decade of playing sports make irresponsible financial choices.

Here's the post in its entirety
Pretty sure Matt Barkley was looking a Sanchez, Matt Leinart, and Carson Palmer as his draft stock fell . . .
That being said, I present Cam Newton as a counter argument and also point out that of the Manning's, Eli of Ole Miss is the one with two SB rings. Cam and Eli, along with Jay Coutler all played against tough SEC competition which definently makes a difference
Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it Parcells who said a QB must have started around 30? or so games before he would consider drafting him

THere is the theory that big school QB's will most likely struggle in the NFL because they never have to learn to play with even competition(Manning, Brady only two great starters from major programs).

Wow!
Bama's new recruiting poster showing the NFL money the recent Bama players got in the Draft really got to you.
You jelly?
Sounds like you're jelly.

Everyone does realize that the overwhelming majority of guys who sign an NFL contract never do anything of note in the league, right?
I just want to make sure we are all clear on that before this thread makes it to 10 pages.

Yeah, this is really a lot of conjecture. But you have to admit experiencing the type of success Alabama players are currently getting has to be emotionally and physically exhausting.

Because they don't receive partial treatment.

Two things about this issue:
1) What exactly constitutes failing and passing?
2) How many guys need to "pass" before the perception of Saban having a history of his players not live up to their draft status goes away?

If Bama players do so bad, why does the NFL keep coming back? The NFL is smart.

Since the 2008 draft, (Saban's first draft at Alabama) has Auburn even had someone drafted who is currently an NFL starter, other than Cam Newton (meeting expectations) and Nick Fairley (not yet meeting expectations)?
Julio Jones and Trent Richardson are the best offensive players on their teams, and the vast majority of our 1st rounders are starting. Most have only had a year or two of experience.
What other NCAA team that is putting out multiple 1st rounders a year has had better NFL production over that time period?
Being average and not meeting ridiculous expectations is much more the norm than being elite. Bama players drafted in the 1st round are meeting about the same expectations as most first rounders from other teams. The only difference is our guys are getting drafted higher than they normally should due to the Alabama/Saban endorsement which results in more money for them.

I already acknowledged that Auburns NFL talent declined under Chizik

Trent Richardson is the best offensive player on the Cleveland Browns. How much does that mean when Brandon Weeden is the starting QB???? And what are the chances of Trent remaining healthy playing behind the Browns O-line against the Steelers and Ravens each year. Especially when he's already had injury issues
That's the theme with Bama players. We are told for years they are the best players in the Universe. They get to the NFL and fade into the background. Let's see, does Barrett Jones even play football anymore?

I this not similar to what I said in the OP?
