I have never seen a single fanbase unite over a subject before like A&M fans

...uniting over the fact that we need to start paying players.
Even some Auburn fans were skeptical about Cam.
I wonder what their tune was during the Reggie Bush scandal, Ohio State tattoos, and Cam Newton.
Regardless, go ahead and keep supporting something that will kill collegiate athletics as we know it just because your golden boy made money selling mass autographs.

JFF, Cam, Reggie Bush, and Terrelle Pryor are all EXACTLY THE SAME

It's a cult. That's how they work.

Even my more casual A&M graduate friends are on this train with facebook posts and twitter posts, how its evil that we don't pay players.
Have they always believed this, or are they just now starting to sing this tune?
If it is such an injustice and such exploitation, they would have been on this crusade from the get go.

I do find it odd that A&M system chancellor released the following statement about JFF. I don't recall any other system chancellor or system President doing that at LSU (re: Honey Badger) or Auburn (re: Cam). Maybe they did and I just didn't notice. Maybe it's just part of the rigid military school tradition at A&M?

quote:
Statement from Texas A&M University System Chancellor, John Sharp:
“I am proud of the way both Coach Sumlin and Johnny handled this situation, with integrity and honesty. We all take the Aggie Code of Honor very seriously and there is no evidence that either the university or Johnny violated that code.”

Paying players would -destroy- the spirit of the game. The spirit of the game is the REAL reason college sports is independently successful as a sport.
Money changes everything.

i'm on the fence of the issue. I think it opens a pandoras box, no one is capable of controlling. The current system doesn't work great, but until I hear a better one...

I don't agree with giving them any money. They're already paid. Now what

We're capitalists. What do you want from us?

A small stipend of 200-300 per month might be OK across the board but nothing crazy.

Athletes already get a stipend.

I wish more people understood this. We're a powerful collective. And it annoys the shite out of people who wish they could have that.

I do not support paying college athletes.
I do, on the other hand, support college athletes being able to profit off of their own name.

exactly. to allow them to get more money is just allowing them to have real control. once given, power will not be given back.
