It could've been called clipping.

Thats what I think. I thought blocking below the waist from behind was clipping where ever on the field it occurrs.

Where is he now?

He had back surgery in the off season and was unable to play this season. I was under the impression he would be back in 2009 - this is the first I have heard of him transferring.

I posted on one of the other threads regarding this play, if it is the same clip of Pugh rolling the guy from behind. It wasn't a chop - you have to be engaged up high and then get cut by another player for it to be a chop.

It could have been called a clip, yes. However, things like this happen a lot more than a lot of people realize and they don't get called. If you watch line play, you see trips, leg whips, clips and a lot of other things that are either given a pass or just missed because the officialsare focused on other things and not looking low.

Blocks like this are dangerous - I got clipped when I was playing and it blew my right knee - but roll and cut blocks are taught by many line coaches (Gibbs used them when he was with the Falcons, the 49ers are notorius for going low on defenders) and if there isn't some discipline on the player's part you have cases like this come up.

They were chop blocking during the Ole Miss game this year. Their O-Line coach must be a scumbag because obviously they are teaching this method. I've seen them do this numerous times.

At least a one-full-season ban for crap like that, and instant loss of scholarship, if it were up to me. Ryan Pugh is a scumbag.

Didn't you already start a thread about this? I know you commented on it several times. Guess you feel you need to start a whole brand new one with the same bullshite each day.

Is one thread on this not enough?

Geez, y'all won. Get over it--it's unfortunate, but it happens.

It shouldn't happen though, and it's ridiculous to make excuses for it.

Did I make an excuse?

No. I said it happened and it is unfortunate.

Once again, get over yourself. You won the damned game but you're acting like a spoiled brat little girl.

The O-line coach has been the O-line coach since Tubbs came to Auburn in 1999. Before that I believe he was the O-line coach at Ole Miss. If it is being taught, why are we just now hearing about it/seeing it? If it was taught by the o-line coach, do you not think he was doing so in in the 10-12 years before last season?

For all anyone knows, it is the fault of undisciplined players. Do the coaches say something to them about it when they grade them out? I have no idea, but neither does anyone else who posts here. I just have a hard time believing that coaches just decide to start teaching chop blocking on a whim in the last couple of years.

For the record, douches, the thread was on the Rant and got moved over here.

Basically I don't want to lose D Lineman to some little bitch playing dirty trying to hurt people.

Instead of you worrying about the lack of discipline at Auburn you are more worried about how many times I post on the subject.

I think you or one of your fellow Aubies stated that it would just blow over. That's exactly what I don't want to happen.

Ryan Pugh can take his arse whipping like a man or he can sit his arse on the bench due to suspension.

I wish the NCAA would make an example of his sorry arse. Is he the guy that did Dorsey last year, or was it someone else?

Is this a joke? The man who chop blocked Glen Dorsey no longer plays for Auburn.

Or you know, you could try paying attention once and a while. That was big news when it happened, all over ESPN and this board nearly exploded. I'm sure Alabama fans were also laughing about how "classless" Auburn was, so I'm surprised you didn't hear some joke about it.
