This crap at Auburn has to be stopped...
Chop blockers at it again
This wasn't the only cheap shot of the night. I understand playing hard and being pissed off. That being said, I think they cost Glen Dorsey a lot of money.
This wasn't Ziemba or Ramsey, who has left Auburn. This was Ryan Pugh the right tackle. That tells me that this is an Auburn problem.
The SEC needs to get involved before they really hurt someone.

Damn, be thankful your guy was able to avoid it, the SEC definitely needs to get involved, if not the NCAA

Dirty.
Did he get called for it?

I've seen that posted up quite a bit now and I didn't even bother to watch. I figured it was just finger pointing.
But wow... that is pretty pathetic.

Nope. They didn't call Glen Dorsey's either did they?

that play sucks...anyone intentionally getting caught doing it should be kicked out of football..and I mean LSU included...that could ruin not only a career in maybe Pro football but also in life...no place for that kind of shite...

No, and the ref was looking at Glen when it happened.

Wow. That was pretty shitty. Coming from the back too.

He was hurt earlier in the year and I'm assuming got tired of bailing water out of the sinking ship.
He's transferring but I don't have a clue where.

Looks like he's coaching the O-line at Auburn.

This wasn't a chop block it was a dirty play of one AU OT blocking in the back on the knees. A cheap shot. A chop block is when one player is blocking another high and another player comes in and blocks low at the knees as a double team. AU does both and are a dirty team.

Makes me sick. The SEC will do nothing.
Posted on 12/1/08 at 10:12 am to deaux68
"Technically" that's not a chop block as the D-lineman wasn't engaged with another Auburn player, but it's dirty as hell.
What kind of penalty could have been called?

I thought blocking below the waste was legal in a certain zone around the position of the ball at snap.

It is but that obviously isn't it.

Just did a quick search and the latest ruling I could find was in 2000. It gives a 10 yard buffer around the neutral zone.
However, that kind of play won't garner you many friends on the field and just may put a target on your back with the D-linemen...if you know what I mean.

It's not a chop block. I know.
It could've been called clipping.
Blocking below the waist is legal within the "box" or running zone. It is not legal when engaged with another offensive player (chop block) or from behind (clip).
Regardless of penalties called or not called, the bigger issue to me is the direct disrespect of the game from Auburn players.
I'm all for "blood makes the grass grow" mentality and like for our OL to be mean as hell. There is a way to do it in between the lines legally though.
