It's asinine. Still doesn't mean it wasn't time for Gus to go.

Which games do you think Auburn has looked good in?

Arkansas and Ole Miss, my friend. Early in the season, both of those teams were being talked about here as possibly winning the West. How quickly we forget...

We looked fantastic in the first half vs. Miss State until Nix was Hobbled and it was downhill on the offense and defense after that. Our defense looked great in the first half vs. A&M as well.

We played a respectable game at Penn State. No way Gus would've kept that close on the road.

Again, no idea what the future holds for Harsin or Auburn, but I am glad Gus is gone regardless. I imagine UF fans feel the same way.

His highlights over the last 11 games are close losses to Bama and beating Tennessee. Also he let's some of the best players sit on the bench way too much

Anthony Richardson, Nayquan Wright, Tyron Hopper etc have sat on the bench way too much.

Nobody needs to rotate RBs every series. They get better when they get a feel for the game.

But from the Ga State game on it has looked like last years team pretty much.

That's not true at all. We looked pretty good AT LSU (check our record there), and good against Arkansas and Ole Miss. To simplify, we looked like shite against UGA, GA State and USCe.

quote:

Unless Bo or Cam was walking through the door to play the second half of the MSU game or against USCe then Auburn was not going to win those two games.

Come on. It's Miss State and USCe. Check our records vs. those schools historically. We were up 25 points on Miss State and Nix got hurt, still throwing for 377 yards. Not taking anything away from either school, but both of those should've been wins.

quote:

Auburn is a call or two away this year from having a couple of more losses.

That's always the case...with a lot of teams. Did you forget the calls last year that could've left Gus with only 4 wins?

And again, no idea what the future holds for Auburn, but if you know anything about our history, we won't be down for long regardless.

Coach Saban is so good he has driven the other BIG 6 members of the SEC to madness.

LSU fired Ed O, a national champioship coach, 2 years after giving LSU a national championship.

Auburn fired Gene Chizik, another national championship coach. He was replaced by Gus Malzahn, who delivered an SEC championship but lost the national championship game. Not good enough - fire him!

Dan Mullen got Florida to Atlanta last year. Fire him!

Tennessee - any coach that goes there - fire him!

Georgia - Mark Richt couldn't beat Nick Saban in the big game, (not many can), so fire him! What happens to Kirby if he doesn't get the job done against Saban? Stay tuned...

That's Fool's Gold. He still lost 4 games including a home loss to the worst LSU team in 20 years and a bowl game by 5 touchdowns.

And yet there's idiots here arguing that he should have been retained.

Gator fans are over him, time to move on, Mullen did months ago.

Mullen deserved to be fired I think the problem is there are a lot of good job openings right now and I’ll be honest I’m glad Saban didn’t retire after last year and Bama isn’t looking for a coach. There’s a lot more good jobs available right now than there are good coaches to go around to be honest.

Cool. The Gators have lost 7 of the last 11 to UGA. Y’all gonna run 40 pussies on the field if you score first?

That ain’t the total reason he was fired. It was his body of work overall the last few years he was here.

Everyone thinks they can fire the HC they have and go hire Nick Saban to replace him. There is only 1 or 2 coaches in the country that can even get into the tier below Saban. These days at best what you can do is fire the coach you have and go hire a Dabo. That’s a lot harder to do. I don’t see very many Natty winning head coaches out there that you can go hire and replace the guy you have right now. You have to find one like Clemson did with Dabo. That is so hard to do. Urban Myer is the only thing close to Saban. A guy that has won a Natty and not at another school. And if he is not game to go back to Florida then giving Mullen more time might have been the best move since he just won the East and played for the SEC last year.

Dude.

Samford dropped 42 points on UF in the first half.
They have a losing record.
They are the flagship school in one of the most talent rich states.

There is no excuse for that performance and no reason to retain that clown.

There are some stupid frickers posting in this thread lol.

Mullen was not simply fired for his one bad season. He was fired for a litany of on and off the field issues including recruiting, team management, and how he handled the press.

At a school like Florida you are always just one coach away. It was obviously not Mullen given all the various issues he was having.

Lol your bragging about barley winning the majority of games. All while UF has been through 4 coaches now. Florida dominated you for almost 20 years and has dominated you in the modern era with 3 natty’s vs 0. If it weren’t for pre WW2 days, UF would be dominating the series record as well.

Mullen got himself fired. He completely lost the state of Florida in terms of recruiting. UF needs to own their home state’s recruiting and that must be priority one for the new coach.

True. now answer the question about how any coach could win at Florida.

Are you under the impression that either Spurrier or Meyer is coming out of retirement for Florida?

You can deflect all you want, but my point stands.

No it didn't. He got the raise he wanted.

Spin it any way you want be he did stuff like that to get a raise and he got one. Is it a sound strategy long term? no. But he is just smug and arrogant enough that he thought it was.

On the other hand...with Florida fans claiming he is a great game day coach, why wouldn't he try it?

Napier will do okay there. Not sure if he's the next Urban, but they could have done worse.

Well of course it was the modern age, because those are the only three you have. Let's not pretend you are ome superior program. Georgia has two and Florida has one. We hold all time and recent wins. But yeah. You had that one 17 year stretch in which Florida was dominating. Extremely dominating I would say. Congrats. But for the last 12 years you've been exactly what you were outside of that dominating 17 year stretch. Again. Congrats.
