Everyone thinks they can fire the HC they have and go hire Nick Saban to replace him. There is only 1 or 2 coaches in the country that can even get into the tier below Saban. These days at best what you can do is fire the coach you have and go hire a Dabo. That’s a lot harder to do. I don’t see very many Natty winning head coaches out there that you can go hire and replace the guy you have right now. You have to find one like Clemson did with Dabo. That is so hard to do. Urban Myer is the only thing close to Saban. A guy that has won a Natty and not at another school. And if he is not game to go back to Florida then giving Mullen more time might have been the best move since he just won the East and played for the SEC last year.

This usually doesn’t end up well. Vandy, Tenn, and Barn are great example.

That being said, Mullen was a complete frickup and left them no choice

Does anybody think they are hiring the next Nick Saban?

But do you really believe Florida should be losing games like they have this year for what they are paying Mullen?

Before this season, Florida went to 3 straight New Year Six bowls and won 2 of them under Mullen. Florida is about to go down the same road as Auburn and Texas

Fk a NY6 bowl.

No one is looking to hire Nick Saban. There's only 1.

Florida ran the SEC for a pretty good while not too long ago they were not accepting Mullen's level of success.
He and his Miss St buddies were unacceptable.

IF you dont understand the move then that's on you.

Mullen would have ruined us for years if not fired. He had checked out mostly.

Don't lump us in with Texas.

A lot of coaches can recruit and win big at Florida.

It’s a great job.

Congrats on having one epoch in your history where you mattered.

I've enjoyed the past decade of regression back to your historical average.

Well who is UF going to hire that will give them at least what Mullen did. Unless you hire Urban or Dabo then you are looking at guys like Chip Kelly. He didn’t want the job last time. So you are left with hiring a big name coordinator that let’s be honest doesn’t often work out. Not many Dabo’s or Kirby’s out there. The only other option is hiring a good coach at a directional school or a FCS school. That’s not much better. Mullen at least made it to New Years Six and SEC title games. Unless you are getting a guy from tier one or tier two on the coaching level then you are just basically gambling and hoping you don’t screw up worse. Get that wrong and it sets the program back even further.

And Saban didn't get (or didn't want) UGA firing Richt. Seeing a trend with you Bammers.

My God - this reads so much like "How could Kentucky fire Tubby Smith".

Those most concerned about how much Dan Mullen was wronged, or how expectations have suddenly got so out of hand ? Fans of other teams.

FYI - everybody else in the SEC - if Mullen is so good, he's available. Hire him.

You can't give him more time. He checked out and had no interest in being the CEO of the football program. This was absolutely the right move. And if we end up looking for a coach again in 3 or 4 years, then so be it.

And yep. Didn't see anybody in the SEC snatching up Malzahn last year.

I'd hire Kyle Whittingham right now. Just think what he could do with 4 and 5 star athletes.

Each of the last 3 fired coaches took us to NY6 bowls. 2 of the last 3 went to the SEC championship game. So chances are decent the next guy will be able to meet those standards at a minimum, the question is will he be able to take it to the next step.

That's Fool's Gold. He still lost 4 games including a home loss to the worst LSU team in 20 years and a bowl game by 5 touchdowns.

But Florida having to do the buyout isn't worth it!
