frick that noise...
I even pull for teams I don't care for like UT and MSU in their Bowl games because they represent OUR Conference.
It's the SEC vs. EVRYONE!

I pull for every SEC team that plays a non-conference opponent except Alabama. When Alabama plays non-conference, I just don't pull against em.

so you like other teams to have positive recruiting tools like major bowl wins? frick that...i want every single one of yall to get embarassed every damn week.

I don't really care if AU, bammer, Fla, OM etc ever win again. I hate all of them.

I agree 100%
It makes no sense. LSU fans always talk about how much they hate Bama, but yet almost all were rooting for them in the MNC last year? I don't get it.

Sounds like an Ohio State or USC fan.
Part of a school's reputation is derived from the strength of the conference in which it plays. One reason that LSU gets ranked highly is because of its conference. And it does help when another team wins the BCS title when LSU doesn't. It helps because it enhances LSU's credibility over time when LSU is competitive in its conference. LSU may get to go a BCS bowl game ahead of other 1-loss teams because the conference is strong. LSU may get the benefit of the doubt in rankings because the competition in the conference is strong. If the conference is weak, LSU doesn't have as good a chance of getting to a BCS bowl game (with all the benefits that brings, recruiting, etc.) when other schools have the same record as LSU.
It is perfectly rational to want the conference to be successful, even in a year when your own team isn't because it will help your team down the road when it is successful.

Obviously, you exude as much sportsmanship as Fairly.

So you would pull for USC, Texas, Ohio State to beat an sec team?

I would
My dislike for Alabama or Florida is 10000X stronger than any dislike I have for Ohio State, Texas, USC, whoever

I hate them also but I would much rather see them beat the top teams from other conferences to shut up those conferences always talking down the SEC

This is basic anthropology. We all compete. We all seek to associate ourselves in groups. These two combine frequently.
A promotion at work. You are competing for a better position, but in the end, you want your company to succeed (if for no other reason than profit).
Elections. You seek to be your party's candidate. Should you lose, you support your party and the candidate who beat you.
This is pretty simple and if you don't understand, it speaks more to your intelligence and less to the idea.

Conference pride is a huge deal. I always pull for SEC teams in non-conference games or bowls, because if the SEC is good, it helps with everything. Kids want to play in the SEC, because its the best. We are a prime example of that. Before we joined the SEC, we were nothing, albeit, we still aren't much at all. The SEC has improved our image and improved our recruiting just as much as having a coach like Spurrier has.

I take you've never been around Ohio State fans.

The hate some of them have for Tressel is ridiculous.

I pull for every SEC team when they play out of conference or in bowl games. Sure, I dislike Auburn and Tennessee as much as anyone but I look at the SEC as a big dysfunctional family....we may hate each other and fight among ourselves, but outsiders best leave us alone. To be the best, you gotta beat the best and the best has resided in the SEC four years running.

It's fun rooting for SEC teams, but not if they cry like Georgia fans did a few seasons ago.
