Since Bama and Mizzou don't play every year I sorta lost track of them. I thought they were an overall very tough and disciplined team. We beat them with better talent obviously. Was impressed with their toughness in the trenches, the running back, discipline, and especially how they didn't throw in the towel second half like a lot of teams might. Faurot Stadium is nice since the upgrades, but get rid of that hs track and install real grass.

Missouri always seems like an easy win...then you play them and wonder wtf is happening the whole time.

In fairness, Florida is .500 against Mizzou so maybe it shouldn't seem like an easy win

I thought they had a very good team, both quarterbacks were good, running back good, the defense played tough, and was well-coached

I was overall impressed with our team. You can tell we are well coached but everyone was new in the offensive side of the ball. We had great drives that ended in nothing that could have made it a better game. I love our defense. They hit hard but damn..... Waddle, Harris and Smith are freaking studs. That catch that Waddle made while getting nailed by Bledsoe was super impressive.

The funny thing is, under Odom we were not disciplined at all. We were the most penalized team in the concert during his tenure.

It really seemed like Drink was able to turn that around. That was the most encouraging sign. Then, we played hard the whole game and didn’t fold when we easily could have. Obviously outclassed and our OL is not what it was supposed to be because of injuries/opt outs/Covid.

Bama is very clearly the best team in the conference and I don’t think it’s particularly close. We’ll prove that next week when we beat Tennessee

Congrats to Missouri. Wasn't much quitting going on on that side of the field. They have a lot to be proud of.

. Don't see something like that in most seasons, least of all in a season opener. It was unbelievable concentration.

I think Drink is the real deal. He's installed the culture at Mizzou, not he just needs to install his players.

1. The track: Agreed. It's lame. Way back in the day, that was an actual dirt track used for competitions. Of course, we're talking a looooooooong time ago. Now, instead of dirt, it's blacktop and serves one purpose, that being to be a road for Truman the Tiger's Mizzou fire engine to drive around the field prior to the game so he can shoot a water cannon at the kids. Kind've neat when you see it, but NOT worth a world-class athlete like your WR tearing a knee up.

2. The grass: Again, agreed but we have an issue here. The stadium has had grass before and it doesn't work. Someone else can give the science but our stadium site sits on an incredibly huge piece of bedrock and at some angle to the sun and water table that grass (or at least SEC-worthy grass) just won't take hold. With the advancements in turf, we're not as far back from having real grass as we were when we had the infamous Omni-turf.

Good luck to the Tide. Saw some positives from our guys but obviously if we want to be a player again like we were in our early days in the league, being happy we "gave you a game" can't be part of our deal.

Missouri is a scrappy team and played with a toughness. They are going to upset a few teams this year. Glad we caught them our first game before they get it all together.

This was my primary takeaway as well.

They were outtalented (especially in the trenches) but totally balled out gun to gun.

Yep I watched App State a lot last year, was impressed with their discipline and killer mentality. Mizzou got a good one with Drink

I’ve said on this website before that Missouri belongs in the SEC moreso than A&M. Glad they are getting some amount of credit.
Buying big name coaches doesn’t make you a SEC school - having athletes that play their asses off is what it’s all about.

We always have WTF games with Mizzou and Tennessee. It’s exhausting

Yeah, with an entirely new coaching staff and shortened practices, it’s impressive how hard they played from start to finish. And their D was laying some wood. They may be a very dangerous team by the middle of the season.

Coach Saban really respects Mizzou because of his relationships with Gary Pinkel. He never truly blows us out and last Drinkwitz's team didn't give up if he kept Jones in they could of easily put up 60. With that being said I'm glad Mizzou opened up against Bama..to tbe the best you MUST compete with the best..one other note I know Mizzou doesn't fit the SEC culture but thanks for letting us in

Hell I remember one game against Florida where Mizzou had 42 points but didn't even have 100 yards of offense when they reached that mark. One of the weirdest games I've ever seen

I was impressed with Mizzou as well... The talent difference was evident but they played hard and looked legit... If any team considers them an automatic W then you're in for a rude awakening..

Even though we were handled easily, I thought this was the best we have played against Bama. The difference in talent is obvious and it is enormous. Alabama looks to be the team to beat for sure. They are really tough. I’m happy with what I saw from our new coach though. Now he just has to find a way to get SEC talent. Good luck the rest of the way.

Appreciate the nice words. Have all the games recorded, plan on watching all this week. Both FL/Ole Miss and LSU/Miss State were exciting games. Will watch Mizzou later this week (was at the game), to get a better sense of where we are at.

Bama: You guys are the real deal. Not that is any surprise but in this season, you guys have the opportunity to be Ghengis Khan and the Mongolian horde and destroy the league. It made it very hard to assess where Mizzou is at and will be in the conference this season. Your O line is well, I wish we had that O line. They'll make Disney dreams possible lol. And your fans were a class act for the fanbase.

Zou: I like our QB situation. Either can start. What I saw is that Drink has not spent as much time with them as he feels necessary, he's a QB whisperer. So they'll continue to get better. Our O-line has improved. Pass defense looked good, opening holes for the run will improve. Receiving corp looked rusty but expect it to improve. Running backs looked good. Def: Our D line was solid, not great not bad, will improve. Weak at the DE position, which we're not use to but thank god for Lancelot Jeffcoat for coming back, he was the bright spot. (You know Lancelot, who comes back to King Arthur for the final battle after being gone...) Our backs, need some work. Rakestraw looked good for a freshman.

May adjust assessment after watching on tv. Continued success to you guys and assuming there will be a Natty, I feel sorry for the teams who get in your way.
