It doesn't matter how long it took us to get here, we are here now and here for good. It's where we belong. Politics sure can be a funny thing.

tu refuses to play all their non-rivals. They should be playing us annually. And I agree that they should at least have some sort of rotation with Arkansas to meet every now and then.

I hate to shite on your parade, but the SEC didn't want Arkansas in 1992, the SEC wanted Texas A&M. But because of Texas state politics, the move that almost happened was blocked.

So we added the cupcake pigs instead.

Lol, what a fricking idiot. They wanted Texas and Arkansas. Texas couldn't/wouldn't come without A&M so they settled for the cupcake USC when whichever teams they wanted out East wouldn't come.

I thought you fricking gumps were all about history?

What are you talking about with this "wouldn't come without A&M" business? They flat WOULD NOT COME. A&M was dying to go. Why would UTw join the SEC? As you saw last night and as we saw time and time again, several Big XII officiating crews are straight-up-straight-out Texas fans. They enjoy and unheard of advantage in any close game in that it'll be given to them.

Agreed. The advantage we joke about Bama having in the SEC Texas actually HAS in the Big #=(whateveritcurrentlyis). The fricking we got in 2009 at Florida was a near annual event for at least one team on Texas's schedule often with Texas on the road.

I'm glad you guys are in the conference now, just wish we would have added OSU instead of Missouri and moved Auburn to the East. Oh well, their threads trying to convince us how they fit in have gotten more entertaining than they were a year ago.

An LSU fan in a thread about Arkansas, Texas, and Texas A&M. Shocked I tell you.

Drewbie,

Trying to figure out what you mean by your thread title -- that Texas refuses to ever play Arkansas, or that Texas backed out of a scheduled game against Arkansas?

I was wondering how long it would take before this came up...

I don't want to derail the thread or screw it up with any facts but from what I can recall, we backed out of the last scheduled game with Texas so we could schedule A&M in Dallas as an OOC game and had to drop the Texas game in order for it to work with our schedule.

We played the first game of a home-and-home series with them in 2008. Guess when our home game will be played to finish that out?

2021.

It was mutually postponed, but Texas has pushed it back repeatedly to where it's now slated to be played in 2021.

Last second score to eek out a win = "stomped"?

Who knew?

What does Ole Miss beating us have to do with the fact that Texas is scared to play us?

Dodds said the opening came at the request of Arkansas, which was scheduled to host Texas in 2014. ESPN brokered the UCLA game, he said.

“We owe Arkansas a home game and they have not wanted to play it,” Dodds said, adding he didn’t mean that as a criticism. “Arkansas has wanted to move it back and we agreed [to 2021]."

The University of Arkansas' football game against the University of Texas scheduled for the 2014 season has been moved to the 2021 season it was announced on Thursday. The Razorbacks and Longhorns will now meet on Sept. 11, 2021 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium.

"Beginning more than a year ago, we have had discussions with the University of Texas regarding re-scheduling the remaining football game in our current contract," Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "Based on multiple factors, including scheduling changes within the Big 12 Conference and Southeastern Conference, the game was moved to the next available game date for both institutions. We look forward to finishing this two-game series in 2021."

Yup. The old OU commissioner was on Austin talk radio the other day and said the Big 12 almost didn't happen because Texas wanted to go West. Politics made that conference. That is part of the reason it sucks.
