That’s fair, but Sumrall so far has done well. The games need to be played, but on paper everything has gone well thus far, much better than the other 4 coaches first staff hires and recruiting moves.

I don't know anything about him other than he is overly concerned about a man's image on a Wikipedia page. Meanwhile, he has chosen an picture of some gay midget as his avatar. Seems suspicious.

It's time to shake that Napier induced inferiority complex.
It's not just Napier. We've been a total embarrassment of a program since halfway through the Dan Mullen era. If it wasn't for some good luck that allowed Mullen to overachieve his first two seasons that allowed us to put a bandaid on the wound, we've been a total embarrassment since the Mac-Shark pic. And that's being generous, considering Muschamp was mostly a disaster (but he did have one really successful season and elite defenses, and did a decent job at recruiting parts of the roster, though he totally dropped the ball with OL, that allowed Mac to make it to Atlanta twice ).

Sumrall might be a diamond in the rough who ends up being able to reinvigorate the football program like Golden did for hoops, but looking at things right now, there's nothing to suggest that this program will ever be elite again in our lifetimes, and I'm not sold we'll even be competitive with anyone outside of the bottom quadrant of the conference on a yearly basis.

Well said.

Although every coach other than Napier had at least one good season.

Muschamp was an endzone fumble away from making the SECCG and possibly BCS.

Sharkman went to two SECCG.

Mullen went to Atlanta.

None of these teams were elite, but we had good, 10-win seasons.

Napier dropped the bar way lower.

True, but it's worth noting that when Mullen went to Atlanta, the team was a joke. That year's team, despite the talent on offense, only won 66% of their games that year and had a historically bad defense.

Yes, they got to Atlanta, but all everyone could talk about was Marco throwing a shoe. Then getting blown out by OU in Dallas.

The bar dropped to its low point under Mullen and Napier just kept it there.
