Leto, take it easy, it isn’t a done deal yet. It was not even supposed to be known he is being interviewed at this point. Tuscaloosa and his connections have spilled the beans…

I meant in an official capacity. As long as the university and two parties involved don’t acknowledge it publicly, it never happened - at least from a PR perspective. There certainly won’t be any news coverage of the supposed affair, as that would result in a massive lawsuit.

I’m not sure Freeze would be welcomed back to the SEC as long as Sankey is around, but I suppose he can’t stop it. I think Harsin is a very good Xs & Os coach, but that alone doesn’t win football meets.

Word was that Saban wanted to hire Freeze for OC and Sankey nixed that

I think this is the heart of it. I hoped the right coordinators could bring in the recruits but that has not panned out.
If all you want to do is coach football, trying to compete in the SEC will get you killed. You have to become involved in the community and work to develop the relationships with the high school coaches as well as players and boosters.
I have no doubt Freeze would take the job, and it makes me ill tbh.

I’ve read that, too, and it makes a lot of sense. Sankey doesn’t have any official authority to stop it, but Saban isn’t one to try to big dick an authority, either.

Actually in the SEC all you have to do is win games. If you win enough you can tell the Community etc to go pound sand and they will still love you

I'm thinking Hugh Freeze is the one guy on the planet Auburn cannot hire. If Harsin gets fired for boinking his secretary and they turn around and hire a coach who got fired for buying prostitutes for himself and/or recruits, even a dumb lawyer will win the lawsuit that will inevitably follow.
