They were ranked higher last year. I'm not saying they have a historically better program, I just state that they have really good sports teams these days.
That's true I forgot they surprised and won a national title last year. They do have a few sports they are very competitive in.

Honestly I don't even know how we can start some of the less prominent sports from scratch and become competitive. It just seems like it would take forever to get good at them even if we did.
Guess we gotta settle for football.

Nah, just takes the right coach.
Look at our very young LAX team for example.

There is no rational way to rank LSU ahead of A&M on a list like this. We have an objectively superior academic ranking and an objectively superior overall athletic ranking. Granted, they've historically been better at the major sports.

I had you having higher esteem academically but LSU with higher esteem athletically. The margin by which they beat you, in my opinion which is what the thread is about, in athletics was greater than the margin you beat them in academics. This is why I ranked them higher overall, granted it was fairly close.

LSU is inferior to Texas A&M on an academic level. It's not debatable.

Yea, I agree. That's not what I was referencing.

Is it safe for me to throw out that all the SEC schools are good schools if you put work into it and that each has areas in which they excel?

Who are you Trump ?????????? It most certainly is "DEBATABLE". This is not Russia Socrates....
What do you base that load of goat plop on????
Your OPINION ?????????????????
How in the hell is an entire university "inferior" to another academically? How are PhD professors teaching at buildings in College Station magically superior to PhD professors teaching at buildings in Baton Rouge ??????????????????????????????????
This is just a snapshot of random academic and research achievements in the past couple of years:
LSU was ranked 63rd in USN&WR's rankings of public colleges and in their 'Tier I.' (That also is just their opinion.)
LSU is one of the top Research institutions in the country as designated by the Carnegie Foundation for Very High Research.
LSU has a world-renowned Center for Internal Auditing.
The LSU E.J. Ourso College of Business and the College's Flores MBA Program were both ranked in the USN&WR's best business school rankings.
LSU's Center for Academic Success (CAS) was designated one of top Learning Centers of Excellence in the country.
The LSU Robert Reich School of Landscape Architecture was once again ranked #1 in the nation, and the Graduate Program was ranked #3. They have been ranked within the top 5 for over a decade.
LSU's Ourso College of Business's Master of Public Administration Program was ranked 9th nationally and Master of Finance Program was ranked 11th. nationally. The Master of Science in Analytics was ranked in top ten.
The LSU School of Art was recently ranked in the top 10 animation school programs in the South.
LSU's Flores MBA Program was ranked 37th nationally by USN&WR 'Best Business School' public university rankings.
LSU annually has top 30-50 programs in Music and Dramatic Arts, Petroleum Engineering, Coastal Studies, Geophysics and Hurricane Engineering, Mass Communications, Entrepreneurial Studies, Internal Auditing, and many others.

an objectively superior overall athletic ranking.
National titles:
LSU has 47 in 7 different sports
A&M has 13 in 7 different sports
ETA:
Lets go sport by sport
Football: LSU no need to discuss
Basketball: LSU-no need to discuss
Baseball: LSU
Womens basketball: LSU has more than double the final fours, more elite eights, more sweet 16s, and more sustained sucess by a lot. But A&M has one title so I will give this a push.
Softball: LSU- no need to discuss
Gynastics:-Lsu- no need to discuss
Track and field- LSU- no need to discuss
Golf-push
Swimming-A&M
Tennis-A&M
So objectively, it isnt close

In total LSU 47 national titles to A&M 13
Please say objectively A&M is better

A&M is currently better than LSU in athletics and academics. LSU is historically better in athletics, but so is almost every school in the country. Hard to compete as a quasi-military school historically speaking.

Florida
TAMU
UGA
All considered very good public schools.
Alabama
Auburn
Mizzou
Considered very average public schools.
Tennessee
LSU
Arkansas
Kentucky
South Carolina
All considered below average public schools.
Mississippi State
Ole Miss
You would get a better education at your local community college. I can say that with certainty because I am an Ole Miss graduate.
