There is actually an algorithm created to determine a ranking in college football. I do not know in all sports.
The alogrihim for college football which included win percentage reinforced the 8 blue blood programs being ahead of everyone and programs like Penn St, FSU and Tennessee not being far behind.
I think overall wins is a way. But if you use that exclusively then you will say Fordham has a better baseball program than UT and I do not believe this to be true. UT and now LSU are the only two true blue bloods in the sport with a few others mainly from the West Coast being borderline blue bloods.

It is just so hard to counter "You're talking about Ohio State!!"

And you had no idea what was going on with the QBs so you had to edit it. You know why Lagow didn't play much? Go look at his stat line before they benched him.

Yeah it's supposed to be hard to counter "you're talking about Ohio State!" when you're the idiot asking if Ohio State has a defense. There is no counter. I don't really need to say anything more. The idiocy of your question stands out quite enough.

Yeah they benched Lagow for starting out going 3-10 on passing in the 1st quarter. That's pretty stupid, actually.

You are having a hard time following.

Wow, slow your roll, bro. Both of those teams have very good defenses.

So does Ohio State.

Do they though

Oklahoma had a great win on Saturday either way. Don't get so upset because someone questions how great their defense is atm.

That is blasphemy on SECRant

Bama is the greatest and when Bama doesn't feel like winning anymore than Auburn and LSU wins.

But those three are the Holy Trinity of SEC Rant and they and they alone can bad mouth each other.

Don't you know the worst team in the SEC could beat the conference champions of every other power 5 conference.

Oklahoma is gonna beat bama in the college football playoff. Mark it down.

Perhaps.

But our secondary is miles better than Ohio State's. I think our odds would be okay.

Ohio State's front 7 is as good as anybody in the country, hands down. You're nuts if you don't think it is. Their secondary doesn't suck either. It's not like they bust coverage and WRs are running free. You should actually watch them play before you question their defense. They have a shite-ton of NFL guys on that defense.

I never questioned their talent. I agree for the most part on their Defensive front. The questions I have revolve around their secondary. I don't think they suck or anything close to that but I do think they could improve a lot. I'm also comparing them to the other top teams in the country. Even Ohio St. fans are at the very least concerned.

The comment was never meant as a shot at Oklahoma. They looked impressive on Saturday, especially Mayfield

I'm not talking about my team. I'm talking about the silliness of questioning Ohio State's defense. They are an elite defense.

What about Arkansas' secondary.

I saw on ESPN Bowl projections they projected a Arkansas/Texas Texas Bowl rematch

I think Tom Herman and UT at this point believes they should be playing in a better bowl but if UT does play the Piggies in the Texas Bowl I would expect a total 180 reversal from a few years ago

With that being said why is an OU fan promoting OU but a Piggy fan promoting Team SEC

The quarterback for Florida State had 160 yards passing at halftime. FSU just couldn't finish their drives. Bama did pretty much shut them down in the second hallf

What about Arkansas secondary? A Texas Bowl rematch with Texas?! LOL!!!!
Texas better worry about just getting to a bowl period. Any bowl. And anybody projecting that team to a bowl game right now is nuts.

Now you are just being silly

Worst in the east right now may be Florida or Mizzou. Not sure either currently would beat a leader in another P5. Worst in the west right now is probably Arkansas and TAMU. Hogs just lost to TCU and TAMU dropped a 25 point lead to UCLA. Neither are top in the PAC or B12. In the SEC we deal with The Six and this has been the case since the SEC founded in the 1930's with 13 teams. Generally in the other P5's you have maybe The Two or The Three.

Right now 2017's The Six look like
Alabama
LSU
Auburn
Georgia

Then pick 2 from
South Carolina
Tennessee
State
Vanderbilt

In the old conferences, in a given year

B1G = Ohio State + Michigan + ????
ACC = Clemson + Florida State + ????
PAC = Southern California + ????
Big 8 = Oklahoma + Nebraska + ????
SWC = Texas + ????
Big 12 = Oklahoma + Nebraska + Texas + ????

When the Big 8 went to the Big 12 it is close as any conference got to The Six in the SEC. The rest was just padding wins in easier conferences and the media loving the B1G and PAC based on potential viewers from the early 1950's to the late 1970's. Old Sooners posting on here know exactly how that changed with their Supreme Court case.

I know texas loves to think they are the top dog, but Oklahoma and Nebraska have the better history if you really look at it. If it helps look at how you viewed each conference before the 2012 realignment.

B1G = Ohio State > Michigan > everybody else
ACC = Florida State > Clemson > everybody else
B 12 = Oklahoma > Nebraska > Texas > everybody else
PAC = Southern California > everybody else
SEC = Alabama > Tennessee > Georgia > LSU > Florida > Auburn > everybody else

What Defense is good and what Defense is not good is only based on your perspective
I may be wrong with you but I have noticed not many people on here watch football outside of the SEC.
You have no idea what Defense's are good and what defense's are not.
Of course you are going to say Bama, LSU and Auburn.
