Yes, it does come across as a lack of respect for LSU. Why would you phrase things that way? But, I think that Saban has a plan in all of this, which is to get his team mad while still getting them to focus on the process and on dominating the opposition on every play. He is all into stuff like that, so I do not for a moment think that this constant refrain from the Bama players is accidental. They are hearing this stuff preached to them.
Will it help them or end up backfiring?
So far, the brilliant Bama fans and BHP in this thread are basically incapable of answering a simple question.

Is this a serious question. Do you really think either one of these teams doesn't know they are up against some of the best players in the country? Nobody on either team is overlooking the competition, skill level, etc in this game.
Alabama players have given LSU props and have also said that they think they can win (and could have won) if they play their best game. It's what any player on a really good team should think. Why is this so offensive, bothersome, curious to LSU fans?

also you mention this - your trying to justify an entire football program based on the comments of A) kids who play and like to boast - and in this way are showing confidence for the upcoming game, and B) from people on message boards that have no bearing on the school, team or players aside from imparting their opinions.

No, it isn't. Either you haven't been listening very much or (more likely) you haven't been listening very well. Bama players and coaches have been very forthcoming about their respect for LSU and that team's accomplishments. So, no, it isn't ALL you've heard out of the Bama camp. It's barely ANY of what you've heard out of the Bama camp. It's just all you want to think about because you have some sort of need for validation. So, when anything is said that doesn't meet this need, you focus like a laser on it. You're needy, and neediness leads to butthurt and butthurt leads to posts like this.

On the other hand, you're not only a poor listener, but you're also an idiot. Bama players can only control how well they attempt to execute. They can't make LSU a better or worse team except by the way that Bama plays. So, why in the world wouldn't they think that they should/could play better? What would you have them say? "Well, we'll just have to hope that LSU plays worse this time because we played utterly flawlessly the last game." That would be both stupid and incorrect.
