I was at first flabbergasted by the length of your OP. Then after reading all the negative posts by apparently anti-LSU types, I figured I might be missing out on some solid background.

Thanks anti-LSU posters, y’all forced me to read an extraordinarily fine dissertation on the merits and machinations of this chaos.

Somethingdifferent truly gave us something different to absorb and ponder.

Do yourselves a favor and force yourselves through it.

Sankey and some roguish presidents have the SEC embroiled in a fine kettle of fish.

If y’all thing this chaos has gotten ugly, just wait.

I’m definitely flagging this OP.

(By the way, OP, I am a retired newspaper editor and your piece very well written and transitionally well done.)

I don’t know about summary, but it’s a great rundown of the situation from many angles.

5 stars - Would read again

Outstanding! Clear. Effective. Efficient.

If sports fans like me have done a cursory review of NIL nationwide, especially since 2021, they will understand the legal ramifications behind the recent LSU-SEC disagreements.

I read it all. Thank you.

p.s. Whether in the courtroom or at a high school debate, a winning argument is not "I ain't reading all that. Besides, it's all wrong."

Sankey did what 15 of his 16 employers wanted sport. If you want to say Sankey gave in to do something he shouldn't to please his employers, you'd have a much better leg to stand on here.

It makes no sense to say he should've chosen to please the one over the 15.

That would be how you torpedo your career.

You guys are straight nuts if you don't think there were double digit presidents absolutely irate with Lane and your administration not being able to reel him in.

Can you please explain how your president's (actually governor's) one vote can remove Sankey? Otherwise you are talking absolute nonsense. Doesn't really matter what you say legally. I guess you can go through the courts to remove him. But if you could do that, why capitulate? If you know the courts would throw his cases out or side against him, why capitulate?

It's plain as day.

So fifteen SEC school presidents all showed up and directed Sankey to expel LSU from the SEC over this? Is that what people think happened?

Let's say they did. Sankey should've immediately told 'em that's not a good idea and no, we're not gonna expel a school over this. Instead, he led them down into the stoopid hole and now, they're gonna have to figure a way out.

I don't think the OP is suggesting LA's governor can remove Sankey. Rather, he will become disgraced and expose the conference members to financial liability.

FTR, I don't want LSU to pursue that course. Nor do I wanna be expelled from the conference. That's a lose-lose. But the two players are gonna sue and it sounds like they'll win. Thanks Greg. But hey, I guess there's some consolation in knowing you followed 15 member institutions wishes.

Excellent post, and a great read for those with enough vision to see what’s really coming down the pipeline.

You wrote all that and the entire time it's not Sankey doing this, it's the other schools.

If Sankey was going rogue, they'd be discussing firing him.

So, what you are saying is that the other schools, who were pursuing the same players who decided to go to LSU, got jealous that they were not chosen. Then LSU publicly stated that they would not roster said players until this mess was cleared up. But once CLK made a cutting remark at halftime, those schools acted like spoiled children and moved ahead with legal action.

This doesn't look as good for these schools as you think it does.

Thumbs up. I wanted to understand what was actually going on legally and the more I looked into it, the more I found how unprecedented all of this is.

Alot of people are saying the matter is over and the SEC smacked LSU down. Given that the SEC is still leaking statements about how unhappy they are, I would say the SEC does not consider the matter closed.

The nature of the comments are what makes the OP relevant. The criticism is that Landry is interjecting himself into the LSU AD and the CFB situation. This is a fundamental misunderstanding of where CFB is today. Landry has done nothing and LSU has done nothing except try to abide by a court ruling.

The SEC is still trying to negotiate with members like it's still the 1970's. CFB is way beyond that now. These are paid employees who don't take classes and don't even live on campus. The situation is moving into contract law and the more the SEC resists CBA and tries to rule with an iron fist, the more they are going to start taking losses in court like the NCAA has been suffering

Thanks MDB! I enjoyed researching the topic. The SEC is going to be forced into the present at some point. It's inevitable

It never was about LSU. It's about the SECs antiquated approach. At some point, they will be forced out of their bubble by courts

As a professional myself I can really appreciate your thoroughness of explaining what the can of worms are legally.

Sankey completely exposed himself and the SEC when he could not define what a professional was and how arbitrarily they decide eligibility cases. Furthermore, he took it to the next level when he said he was seeing the 5 for 5 ruling paperwork for the first time in court when it had been available for weeks. The entire issue for the hearing was about 5 for 5 and he was blatantly ignorant on the issue.

There would be none of this had they issued a one year exception for 2022, but decided (apparently from butthurt school presidents) to light the fuse of a bomb that inevitably will blow up in either SEC members or Sankey’s face, or both.

This seems that there must be some sort of attempt at getting congress to act, because certainly the powers atop these schools and Sankey cannot be this obtuse. For a vendetta against a football coach they risk all of this?

If so, new leadership is in order.
Sankey gets removed when all the school presidents and their attorneys review what all had been said in the OP.

I advise all in this thread to read it if you want to understand what will happen in the legal process. Otherwise, keep saying ignorant things and exposing yourself as an idiot like Sankey on the stand.
