The schools should end the madness and take away all athletic scholarships. Make intercollegiate athletics what it should be. Society would benefit.

This. The players who want to get paid can be part of semi-pro league/farm club for the NFL.
And the players who are actually student athletes will have to be satisfied with academic scholarships or skip school and be part of a farm club.

How is it absurd? I’m hearing that the Auburn QB is going to make 2.5 to 3 million next year in NIL… it may take that college professor 20 years to make the same amount of money… who is schooling who?
\

If you are against the players being able to profit from their own NIL, you are straight-up communist. The institutions and the NCAA made this bed, now they have to sleep in it.

The absurd part is the notion that being a student will be totally divorced from college football.

Most are probably using NIL to pay others to do the work

I may or may not have written term papers for athletes as far back as the late '70's.

Pretty sure Joe Burrow never attended a class at LSU.

That’s sad. Increasing the disconnect between student, athlete and university. Paid mercenaries.

It's an antitrust violation to prevent a player for transferring to the opposing team at halftime if you think about it.

Late 80’s I had an engineering class with a basketball player. Fall class during the season. Saw him first day of class and the final. Doubt many athletes today step foot on campus other than training facilities.

I had a similar experience with an LSU football player when I was in school.

I was going to say are they going to classes?

More then likely no, but my post said enroll in classes. They have to at least still enroll in classes at this point, whether they go or not who knows.

Can't wait until the CFPCG is over. Regardless of whether I reach 10k posts or not, I'm done with CFB and sports in general (done with this board, too).
