It'll be nice to see slants and short passes introduced back into the offense again.

And I'm sure the running backs will enjoy having a guy that can actually read a defense and not send them into a wall of defenders nearly every hand off.

I'm cautiously optimistic about Ty. He's giving off Coker vibes so far in his attitude and demeanor. He doesn't have to be Tom Brady out there, just get the ball into the hands of our many playmakers. It was so painful watching Milroe in most of the last half of the season last year. Offense was entirely too centered around him.

To be fair, you also said that Bama would beat Oklahoma 31-13 and Vandy 48-13 so your predictions kind of suck.

The things Jalen Milroe did well, he only did sometimes. And as the season progressed, he became worse and worse at those things.

I think the "idea" of what Ty is going to be fits Grubb/DeBoer's offense better than Jalen, and that it will lead to a more consistent offense that isn't big play or 3 and out. However, that assumes that Ty can make good reads, deliver catchable balls and not turn the ball over. I think he's capable of that, but we really have no idea until he walks out there in Tallahassee. I think he'll be fine, but he could end up being "fine" most of the time but also be a INT throwing machine - you just never really know.

The OL is somewhat similar - they have some established individuals and should have competent fill ins at the 2 other spots, but frankly they need to prove they can be an elite OL again. We've heard all about how good they'd be for going on about 3 preseasons now and they've been inconsistent at best, and have not been able to establish consistent push in the run game.

WR is going to be very good. RB should be solid. The coaching is going to be very good. If the OL and QB are above average or better we should be pretty good on offense - certainly more consistent.

Eh, it usually comes from the top 5. Vegas has Alabama as 6th or 7th in preseason odds. Here is where the national champion was in consensus preseason odds the last ten seasons.

2024: Ohio State - #2
2023: Michigan - #4
2022: Georgia - #3
2021: Georgia - #3
2020: Alabama - #2
2019: LSU - #9
2018: Clemson - #2
2017: Alabama - #1
2016: Clemson - #3
2015: Alabama - #3

Odds

It may be a good sign for LSU, currently sitting with 9th best odds according to Fox Sports.

The DeBoer/Grubb offense is completely centered around the quarterback. If you have a guy like Penix, it's great. If you don't, you struggle.

It’s interesting reading this board because most Bama fans here think they are gonna be very elite

Most of the ones I know irl are more pessimistic which hasn’t been the case since Saban arrived

There are a lot of “ifs” on that team and laughing at the fact that there are 6-7 teams with better odds is fricking hysterical

Jake Haener threw for 4,096 yards and 33 TDs his Junior year with DeBoer and Grubb leading the offense.

The next season, without said coaches, Haener threw for 2,800 yards and 20 TDs.

So what the frick are you talking about?

Well yeah, SideTaint.

He had 140 less pass attempts, hence the offense being "centered" around the quarterback.

He played in 3 less games the following year. Fresno State also had Jordan Mims, who rushed for 1,370 yards, an increase of almost double the yards of their leading rusher the previous year under Grubb. But you already knew all that.

Every offense is centered around the Quarterback you fricking idiot.

They literally touch the ball on every down.

You said the DeBoer offense needed someone like Penix, a first round NFL QB, to he successful.

I just proved to you it doesn't.

fricking moron.

If LSU has a Heisman winner, Biletnikoff winner, Thorpe winner, and Moore winners this season they will be in good shape.
