I take my son to one game a year, so roughly $1100. $600+ for good lower-bowl seats, decent hotel, food, etc. Eyeballing getting tix for the SCAR game at Tiger Stadium this season - I think that'll be a good matchup.

Inflation is going to kill much more than college football but it will kill college football. We are being nickel and dimed in every aspect of life, inflation is rampant, regardless of whatever person is in charge. College football has gotten exponentially more expensive, with collectives trying to scheme you out of money, having to pay for things you used to not pay anything for, and ticket prices skyrocketing.

Yeah, going to games is going to be the first things that people cut when they have to cut expenses.

Prol averaged $3-$5k per year. A grand to the NIL collective (not sure I will continue) and the rest on tickets and maybe travel. I only got to a couople of games per year (depending on matchup and if an interesting location or a stadium I haven’t been too yet). Imo, I get more value from getting really good seats from stubhub (even at market prices) for a couple of games than season tickets.

When I was in college, whatever the student ticket package cost (if i was lucky enough to get it) and whatever a bottle of titos costed to split between my roommate and myself.

I found out its much more enjoyable to be at galettes or innisfree for games closer towards graduating. Id probably spend around ~60 a day for drinks at the bar. I had a job in college so I could afford this regularly.

These days I watch it on TV, but want to make a return to see a game one of these years.

HULU live is like 80-90 bucks a month and some quality bourbon is about 50 bucks a week. So on average 1-2K a year.

Too much money unfortunately. Gamecock Club membership costs (Around $4000 a year) We have 8 season tickets. We're traveling for the first game against Virginia Tech in Atlanta. Parking. The shite adds up.

It's why I can't get behind NIL. It's tough being able to afford simply going to the games themselves

The responses to my post suggests an ominous long term problem for big time college football. I’m sure many of you who have responded are people who have graduated from your school, attained success in your profession and who have spent more money than the average tv fan who never attends games. The powers to be are driving headlong for the cliff.

Used to go to several games a year but stopped due to ticket prices, parking, food, etc. My son is now at the age where he wants to go so I take him to one a year.

Probably close to 20,000 a year. Tbh yeah it's painful to do it, but whenever I think about not having tickets, I just can't do it. My family has sat in the same spot since 1972, so I can't imagine not being in seats that 4 generations of my family have enjoyed. It's painful cause the sports continue to suck every dime out of us, cause they can count on sentimental guys like me won't stop buying tickets. At the end of the day, I still feel good watching the Power T open up and hearing Rocky Top, but in the offseason, it's annoying to think about.

Last game I paid for was Bama-LSU in Baton Rouge, 2018. I might consider going to one game a year but the game as it’s currently configured puts a bad taste in my mouth. I’ll watch on TV probably but I don’t have the same passion anymore. Doesn’t ruin my day anymore if I can’t watch.

I stopped going 5 years ago because it got too much. I'd rather go to high school games these days....

Which means ticket prices will adjust. Schools aren't going to play games surrounded by empty concrete.

My point is - inflation won't keep fans away, but disinterest will.

I have spent 30k-40k before. We usually go to Bama vs Auburn, LSU or maybe Tenner. Then the playoff started and Bama had a hot run of course so we always traveled to Cali, Atlanta, Tampa, etc.. flights, hotels, Ubers, tickets.. it’s became outrageous.

Most expensive tickets I ever bought were 2011 Bama LSU in Tuscaloosa, 40 yard line, lower level 3500 per ticket. (4total)

And Bama vs Georgia in Atlanta, for the NC, club section (4K per ticket)

I quit going to games 8 years ago. I was spending around $10,000 per year on tickets, travel, food etc etc. I had enough of being overcharged for tickets, bloated travel costs etc. Today, I have a nice TV, comfortable tv room, nice grill etc and watch every game.

I do not want to think about it. Far too much. I have had 4 season tickets since the early 1990s but seldom use them now. I have 4 SEC CG tickets and until last season if we did not use them to see UGA play in the game they offset the season tickets somewhat. There was no market for them last year because of the playoff system and it ain't going to get any better. Texas was there last year...that alone should have made them worth at least face value. They weren't.

Now? Basically nothing. My family still has a bunch of season tickets but having 2 kids under 5, it's just too much of a hassle trying to go to games anymore with the travel/lodging/pet sitting/childcare involved.

9 k for seat license and four tickets, another 1500 or so for one travel game then all the other things for tailgating so likely around 15-20k but it’s the only game in town and not a saints fan so worth every bit of it I guess until my kid can take over the tickets. Too damn good of tickets to give up. 4 on the 45 aisle seats in Death Valley!!!

$0 on D1. A new ball cap maybe once every decade.

I do go to about one D3 game a year, however. I can afford to buy hot dogs and Cokes at those.

Probably about 10% of what I spent 5 years ago. Just lost a lot of the appeal
