High School administrators push college prospects through the system, so that they will academically qualify. Programs are put into place to help these prospects, as much as humanly possible, to assist these prospect to acquire the necessary ACT score needed.

The fact that places like IMG exist is proof of the
extracurricular efforts put forth in recruiting HS football players.

Have an upvote for hitting the nail on the head, but good luck getting the message across. "Every program in the SEC cheats like crazy, every program except mine, of course."

I could write volumes on the improper benefits I've witnessed through the years (I'm in my 70s), but I'll keep it short.

Did you ever wonder why star athletes from east Mississippi, even Starkville, signed with Alabama without ever considering State? A Bama booster in that neck of the woods owned a lucrative franchise that employed a lot of people. By a bizarre coincidence those employees were often parents of athletes that signed with Bama. I once asked Mr. Bama if he'd ever met Bear Bryant. "I meet him once a year at a boosters banquet, but he never remembers my name from one year to the next."

Long before the advent of the cell phone, I personally overheard the star QB at Ole Miss on a pay phone asking a presumed bagman for $200 so he could show his date a good time in Memphis. The QB, who had a widespread reputation as an egomaniac, made no effort to keep his voice down.

Anyone who has taught English at a P5 school has his/her fair share of horror stories. "The chairman told me this football player needed a C in English comp to stay on the team. The kid could barely write a complete sentence, so out of fairness to the other students I gave him the F he deserved. The department records secretary later informed me that the chairman changed the grade to C."
