Does Cam Newton count? Really didn't start in FBS until 2010.

I would think so.

Jameis is another one.

How many times has a team that began it's regular season with a brand new starting QB and finished it's regular season undefeated gone on to become the National Champion at the end of the year?

So it rarely happens.

What were the names of the QBs for those teams those years?

I'm just curious.

2020 Bama
2018 Clemson
2013 FSU
2010 Auburn
2009 Alabama
2002 Ohio State
1998 Tennessee

going undefeated rarely happens with a returning or new QB.

I'm not talking about just going undefeated. I'm asking how many teams began their season with a brand new starting QB then gone on to be undefeated in its regular season and then crowned the National Champion at the end of that year?

1979 Steadman Sheely
1973 Gary Rutledge
1966 Kenny Stabler

Probably more

Pretty sure Jay Barker got a few starts at end of 1991 as a freshman so his 1992 year wouldnt count.

Coker didn't start that game, so he went undefeated, but the team didn't.

I want to know who smoked what to think starting Cooper Bateman against Ole Miss was a good idea.

Just like I want to know what they were smoking to play Ty squared against USF though I'm sure somebody is going to tell me Saban was just playing 4D Chess.

Bama has done it 4 times under Saban. 2009, 2016, 2018 and 2020.

It's not that impressive with that non conf schedule for UGA this past year.

Beck is solid but he should have thrown 4 ints vs Bama and failed to pass 1 TD. Meh.
