Yes, but as has been shown in the past, that 1 and 2 ranking are also subject to human manipulation.
Completely - so Bama could find itself at a solid #2 before CG week and drop out of that spot after the games of that weekend unfold and they're idle.

The last two weeks in 2007 were simply the perfect storm for LSU, and everything UGA needed to happen didn't.
Truth - LSU is still the only 2-loss team to even play for the crystal ball.

Under rules, yes Bama may get a second chance that no team in the BCS era has gotten, but please stop with the 4 missed field goals stuff. Bama had a snowball's chance on a beach in Rio of making them. You don't have a kicker who can make a 50 yarder, so quit acting like it was a fluke that Bama missed four field goals that would have required divine intervention to have been good.

Even better. The media wants a rematch bad. If Oklahoma won't get in, even if they knock off Okie State.

The media I hear aren't opposed to it, but I wouldn't say they necessarily want it. Some do - think LSU and Bama are clearly the best. Some don't - no rematch. Most seem on the fence.

Is a product of two thIngs on this board one LSU fans wanting a cake in the champ game and not playing the only team with a snowballs chance in he'll of winning and two subconciously it delegitimizes their 2007 argument for jumping GA when they were playing better ball at the end of the season, but to be honest whether there has ever been a nonconf champ go or not doesn't matter It is supposed to be the two best teams and each year is different.
We won at Bama and have earned a right to our cake.

This argument will matter little because OK St aint losing to anyone and that includes OU. It will be LSU vs OKie St in the title game

Cade Foster was 5/6 in 2010 from 40-49 yards with a long of 49. He missed two field goals in 2010. He has the ability to make them.

You say this because OK State blew out a bad Texas Tech team? Didn't a bad Texas A&M team have them beat until they gave the game away?

And this season? How many has he made from 49-50 yards? How many has he tried?
How many has Shelly made this year from 49 yards?
How many have either made from more than 50 yards?
Ever?
The percentage of successful field goals from 50 yards or more is pretty small in college. Not impossible, but not a good risk either.
I will grant that the 44 or so yard attempt that was the first try might have been worth a try but the 50+ yard tries had very little chance of success, and can hardly be counted as real opportunities to score. Those, if made, would largely have been flukes unless you had an extraordinary kicker, which Bama does not have, as clearly shown again tonight.

I'll give you it was dumb to make Shelly try the 49 yarder. He has never been a long FG kicker. As much hell as Bama fans gave him, if Leigh Tiffin had been on this team he might have missed one of the 50 and 49 yarders missed in regulation, which likely would have given Bama the win.
It is funny however to hear LSU fans take digs at a 1 loss Bama team not having a shot for simply losing to the team ranked #1, when in their two BCSNC seasons LSU has three losses all to mediocre teams

I have never supported a rule would automatically exclude a team that didn't win its conference from the BCS CG, because there are some scenarios where it would not make sense to do so. I do think that where the records are equal for a BCS conference champion and and a non champion, preference should go to the champion. That is not the current rule,
of course.
But if Bama had won the game by a field goal, I doubt many Bama fans would be in favor of playing LSU again in the BCS CG, for the same reasons.

OU is also without their All-American WR and OSU has 2 weeks between games.

Yep Broyles is out, but overall OU is still a better team than Okie Light IMO. Watched the KSU/OSUsw game and that team is very beatable. I don't see OU playing as poorly as it did vs Tech again.

If OU beats OSU the last weekend of the season, the computers and voters may push them over Bama. They will ba a close 4th in the rankings this week. Auburn and PSU losing will hurt Bama with the computers. Alabama has one good win.
