God I hope not. Private Equity groups gut companies and sell them in shambles at a profit. These groups are mostly responsible for the enshitification of most of our economy and it's products and services.

Private Equity firms are the used car salesmen of capital markets. Like leisure suit level salesmen.

The insane cost escalation of taking your family to a game is going to kill cfb. Going to games with the family is a fond memory.

I’m no PE expert. I do know someone who seems knowledgeable. I was told a PE firm buys let say at 6 times earnings. They buy and hope the firm will prosper and eventually sell for 10 times earnings.

Someone who knows please explain the benefits of a college team being bought by a PE firm.

The PE firm wants to pay as little as possible correct?

It seems to me it is desperation and suicide to associate with a PE firm.

Tell me where I’m wrong.

Frankly, I really don't understand your comment other than silly "Oh Yeah".

Some of the athletics departments need to get their shite together and start performing better themselves. If a University entertains the proposal to bring a PE firm in to perform the job their athletics department's supposed to be doing, so be it. ADs have the authority or can get approval to enter into contracts to enhance their department. Why would a university share the revenue with a PE firm I guess is what I don't understand. My take from comments is many athletics departments must be underperforming to the point that they need replacement by a PE firm. Isn't this what is normally happening to entertain PE firms involvement? Maybe some schools would just be better off making a call to Learfield and whacking their Athletics Department?

Just using OU for example, but could apply to any school....
Is the Oklahoma AD under performing? Would OU be better off having PE firm involved? Why, why not? What changes would a PE firm make that the current administration couldn't, and at what cost relative to current costs?

I would not be surprised to see state schools divest themselves of an athletic department to a for-profit entity. They could then license the brand while leasing the facilities. The school would see the same revenue without having to manage athletics.

If a school were to do this I would think all contributions and donations from alumni and boosters would stop. Nobody makes donations to an NFL team. I guess revenue would completely rely on sells, merchandise, and SEC payout. Any revenue from facilities would go to the University in your proposal whether they clear a profit or not.

Maybe?
