And, going back to the original post:
Gus will only "suck" if he goes soft on the kids and lets them run the show. He's a great recruiter and an offensive innovator. Coupled with a good DC, and there's no reason to suspect he'll "suck" so long as:
A.) He doesn't leave
B.) He doesn't let the kids run the show
I've seen good coaches undermined by trying to be the "friend" for the kids.
AU with a good coach just means the West got that much tougher.
