There’s probably a few basketball players in Atlanta.

There are - they just all play at Kentucky or in the ACC, with a few at Alabama, Auburn or Florida.

Lot of reasons, football being the biggest, Georgias administration in the late 90s and early 2000s being another, geography and facilities being another.

We had something going with Harrick at the turn of the millennium but UGA President Michael Adams (who personally saw to it that Harrick was hired in the first place) all but murdered the program in cold blood over the whole “how many points is a 3 point shot worth scandal” which by today’s standards is just cute and hardly worth clutching ones pearls over

Basketball kids in Atlanta also have no allegiance to UGA. At all. Georgia is basically just another SEC school to the majority of elite basketball player kids in metro Atlanta.

They model their basketball program after their football offense?

Why haven’t they been relevant in football in 40 years? Why have they not won the CWS in several decades.

It’s inherit in their DNA. They are lightweight chokers.

Muh, in the playoff finals two years ago played for another baseball title against Fresno and came up short.

We did not play the aau games until recently. We were good under Durham, tubby, and Harrick.

Baseball, Georgia has a Mountain of talent but also a MLB team with all their scouts. We lose a bunch to the draft or don't even try to sign them. The backwoods programs in the league that don't have MLB, can protect their talent better. UGA competes with the ATL braves for attendance and the Braves win, alot of other programs are the only show around. Personally wish we had an LSU or msu following.

Harricks son taught a coed Philosophy of Basketball Elective and we had two college level players get A's while not going to class.... UNC just giggles at how stupidly our school handled this situation.

And by elective it was like a 1 hour throwaway class for would-be PE teachers. It just sounded bad out of context so Adams cleaned house to save his own arse and passed the buck to Dooley as a means of building a case to force him out

Nephew played baseball at Lassiter probably 15 years ago. Drove down to see them play. They were playing Parkview? Is it? Anyway amazing players. Middle infielders could turn it like Double A guys. Was very impressed. Football there wasn’t great the games I watched but baseball was unreal.

If you are bored go back the last 10 years and look at the MLB draft 1st-2nd rounds and count the kids from Metro Atlanta.

It's staggering.

Oh I’m sure. I worked with a guy about twenty years ago who was very successful as a baseball coach here in South Carolina. He went to Pope for a few years. Think competition was too stiff. He ran back across the border to South Carolina. Did a good job back here but wasn’t winning at Pope like he was here

I remember the media calling out that test, particularly question 18.

The answer the coach had was 5 fouls, but it was quickly pointed out that you aren’t allowed to have 5 fouls. The 5th foul gets you out of the game.

Just bad hires, always thought Crean was overrated. A real point no ones brought up was how segregation prevented UGA from hiring John Wooden, who wanted to recruit nonwhite players.
