He's obviously the greatest coach of all time. Thanks for asking, though.

So you are suggesting because this season after the nc he has returned to mediocrity? Were you an lsu fan in 08' by chance?

A better question would be how bad is Chizik. Time will prove he was a one-hit wonder thanks to one of the greatest college football players ever

I guess Charles Barkley was right.

Exactly....
And I always read about how Auburn got lucky to win the games they win, but HOW MANY TIMES has LSU had to pull one out the arse since that bill goat y'all call a head coach has been there??
Remember, that was guy was on the hot seat until they beat U of Gump last season....
Chizik - 1 NC in 3 years at AU with Tubby's players
Miles - 1 NC in 7 years at LSU with Weeman's players...
Who's done more with "Les"...

Posted on 12/14/11 at 7:28 pm to thirdlawson
We won't be able to compare numbers after 7 years because Chiz won't make it that long, but if you look at each coaches first 3 years at their respective school, it's all Miles bro
Don't be mad he teabagged Chiz twice now

What was LSU's record in 2008 again?

You choose one year out of 8 now, very nice. Chiz has had two seasons that bad in three total

I believe in Chizik and love him (no homo)
Seriously, I thought he was awesome when he was our DC and I think he has what it takes to return Auburn to greatness.

The only gripe I have with Chizik is...he gets blown out too much. However, he never loses to teams he should beat. I also like the fact that he doesn't hesitate to bring in new coaches if necessary. I think it will be interesting to see who he brings in as OC/DC. I suspect it will be an upgrade at DC and no drop off on OC. At the end of the day - its all about Talent. Chizik just lily whited the NCAA. I hope Les and Nick are as fortunate when those boys come knocking. I'm afraid they won't be.

Agreed, I don't think chizik at this point should be held in the same regard as a few sec coaches. However at this point in his career he has done more in a shorter period of time than the rest as both a hc and non hc. Time will tell what his career in ten plus years looks like but he is moving just fine.

This thread has reenforced my viewpoint that your average so-called football fan has little to no actual grasp on even the most basic level of anything approaching understanding of football.
I also see that when it comes to Auburn, the ability to form a rational though free of mindless hate is beyond the ability of a good portion of fans. This is clearly shown by their willingness to to make fools of themselves in threads like this. There was a time when people actually cared about their reputation and knew the fastest way to ruin it was to show themselves to be trolls. What happened to change this?
I understand and even support critical discussion but cannot understand how so many are happy to show the world their abject stupidity by posting some of the complete horse shite like what I've seen on the past few pages.
Is Chizik a great coach? Good? Poor? Any logical person would say that thus far he's done far better than anyone ever expected but is now at a critical crossroads which will determine his legacy. I won't make myself sound stupid by making outlandish claims about what he will or will not do in the future. But if his past history at Auburn is any guide, I'd say chances are he'll do far better than many here expect.

How often has he met or exceeded expectations as a head coach? Once, but he knocked it out of the park that one season. Every other year as a head coach he has failed to meet expectations. His one championship year will get him until the 2013 season to return to competing for the SECW championship. If Auburn isn't challenging for the title then I think he'll be history.

He met or exceeded expectations this year. And arguably in his first year at Auburn too. It's funny to me that everyone on here preseason predicts Auburn to win 5 or 6 games this season. But we go 7-5, yet now that is somehow used as evidence that CGC is an underachiever that can't succeed. I don't get it...Or actually I do - much of the criticism against Auburn and CGC is driven not by attempted objective analysis of our program and the job he has done, but rather by anger and an overarching belief that AU "got away with it" last season.
CGC might be a great coach, he might be terrible. But the argument that he has proven himself to be an underachiever is patently false, at least at AU. He quite frankly had chicken shite to work with and he has managed to make something beginning to resemble chicken salad.
