You say this because your conference sucks.
What a tard , it's an excuse for not winning the NC.
A real fan never cheers for their teams opponents.

I think the real point is teams from the South are dominant. If you were to include Clemson, FSU, VA Tech and Miami in those figures the data would be further skewed to southern dominance. Just look at the NCs since 1980...dominant.

Clemson is legit and both FSU and Miami were legit this century. VT too to a lesser degree.
For the sake of college football, I hope those three can get it together soon and return to being competitive.
I would prefer if Michigan, USC and whoever else from another part of the country would become competitive. I fear the sport is going to become marginalized with the BCS and now the CFP removing the facade that was the Rose Bowl, and all the media hype that went along with it.
As a child growing up in the 80’s and early 90’s, my impression of CFB was that USC, Michigan, Ohio State and Notre Dame were the elite teams, and everyone else was lucky if a few of their games were televised.
I had assumed that southern dominance began in the mid 1990’s. I was really, genuinely surprised to learn upon researching the topic that the outcomes we’ve seen the past 25 years or so are consistent with historical outcomes dating back to decades before I was even born.
Media hype and bias if you care to call it that created the false impression I had growing up regarding which teams, regions and conferences were superior or elite.
If we count Clemson, Miami and FSU as southeast teams, then the southeast region has produced the winners of 18 of the last 25 champions, with an argument for 19 (2004 Auburn).
So TL;DR, I agree with the gist of your comment. It would be good for the sport if other conferences can legitimately compete with the best. I’d love to see the PAC 12 or BIG 12 produce a real contender. I’d love to see the B1G produce a contender other than OSU.
I don’t want to see CFB become marginalized as a niche, regional sport with fan interest concentrated in the SE portion of the country. It’s just not as much fun to win when 3/4 of the country don’t care.

So you’re saying overall records going back a century should factor in to the playoff selection?
That’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard.
For what it’s worth I don’t think anybody argues that the SEC hasn’t been the best conference in football.
It is what it is. SEC schools put more money into their programs. ACC schools for the most part are more about basketball.

It’s really strange what the SEC has turned into in regards to the fan bases cheering for each other. I’ve been seeing tons of South Carolina fans posting memes on social media about how great Burrow and LSU were this year.
For comparison I was sick to my stomach watching FSU and Jameis Winston having success a few years ago. I would never in my life dream of promoting another program just because they are in the same conference.

Who cares.
Ohio State is 23-13-3 against SEC teams.
0-1 vs UT.
Eddie George's teeth still rattle when you mention the name Bill Duff.

It's really odd to me , I guess some fans just can't say my team sucked , instead they cheer for a team that beat their asses.
