In less than two days??

I mean holy frick. Either Saban is lying and this deal was already in the works, or Bama has the most incredible AD ever

The shock of Saban's retirement hasn't even set in and the new dude is already there

If you offer enough people, eventually someone will say yes.

It is hard to believe Deboer landed in Tuscaloosa as Alabama’s new coach 54 hours after Saban’s retirement was announced without somebody doing some prep work beforehand.

How many offers can you even make in a day? Most coaching searches take weeks. Bama's last coaching search took 40 days

104-12 career record
Took a 4 win team to the Natty in his second season
7 11-win seasons in 9 seasons total
5-0 against Sark and Lanning

Eta: and a pristine career and personal record. No firings, no scandals, no character issues

The rumor is that DeBoer was always the first choice.

Lanning would have been the first choice, but they already knew his buyout was too exclusionary so he wasn't ever seriously considered.

Mal Moore, and the guy before Byrne who's name escapes me, were both significantly less.

Mal Moore's legacy was saved by the Saban hire, but he almost screwed that up anyway.

Settle down, it's a good pick but not that good. He's been a FBS coach for what, three full seasons? Still plenty of risk there.

You’re either stupid or delusional if you believe that in the last 48 hours Alabama was rebuffed by at least 4 coaches and still managed to pull off this hire.

DeBoer retained Sexton as his agent only a few months ago. He knew he was moving his way on up.

Well he's going to have to step up his defensive schemes if he is going to remain "caliber" in the SEC. A few fun facts about the Huskies defense this year:

quote:

Washington Huskies defense 2023: 396.9 total yards per game allowed (76th in FBS), 5.4 yards per play allowed (59th), 40.11% opponents’ third-down conversion rate (76th), 1.4 takeaways per game (62nd)

That is not caliber defense in the SEC.
