I'm pretty surprised he hasn't had more success, but I'm pretty biased. I thought his VCU run showed he was good coach.

Btw, him looking calm all the time is completely irrelevant. Billy D does that all the time, and it never hurt him.

grant has become more reserved, which i fear is because he knows hard lining his players wont work.

i see a lot of flippant attitude out of some of our guys this year. we all know about mitchell and green last year. i dont think grant knows how to deal with the personalities on this team. jmo.

The biggest thing he has yet to do is rid the Bama program of a "front runners" mentality. Meaning when things are going good, they look good, but if they meet adversity they absolutely fall apart instead of battling through it.

The past two years they have come out like gangbusters, winning early season tournaments. They look like a real team, then both teams lost heartbreaking games at the buzzer to good teams - 2011 to Georgetwon, 2012 to Cincy - and then they follow that up with bad losses to mediocre teams.

If Bama had taken care of business verses Mercer, Tulane, and Dayton this year they would be sitting as a lock for the tournament. But, their inability to play through adversity is their downfall, and will probably keep them out of the tournament this year.

On the plus side, his teams play great defense and generally play hard every game.

On the minus side, it really is inexcusable for the offense to be as bad as it is. It hasn't progressed at all in his 4 years. It's not just a lack of a post player, it's also poor offensive schemes and execution.

If he's able to fix the offense, we could have some great teams in the next couple years. Will he? I don't know

I think so.. Some get frustrated with our offense, but it is his plan. And it is very successful in the SEC, but to jump to the top of the sec and improve our program nationally our offense will need to improve.
i'm in this boat. We have to get a pure shooter or a great post guy. Their shooting is atrocious

They're third in the league in three-point percentage and fourth in fg percentage Shooting 36% from three is a huge improvement from last year.

Yeah I assume people think since we don't score points it means we can't shoot.

what is frustrating is throwing the ball around the perimeter in a lazy fashion with no sense of urgency an then with under 10 the guard tries to start a play by driving to the basket. This is a weak offensive philosophy an I don't know how many bad shots are then put up or you drive to the middle and the other teams big guys reject the shot. This is all on the coaching. We have the perimeter play to do something better then this

Not as impressive as it looks when you consider the league only has 2 good teams.

CAG has stated that the team spent a lot of time in the offseason working on 3 point shooting and it has payed off but we still don't have anyone who can consistently make a mid-range shot because we don't have any pure shooters on the team.

Grant walked into a shite storm. I think he is still the right guy. Just has had some unfortunate breaks.

First year, he had to implement his coaching philosophy. Not a ton of talent.

Second year, no offensive talent + won the west. NIT Runner Up

Third year, unfortunate turn of events. Had the talent. Immature fricks ruined the team. Still made it to 2nd round of NCAA tourney.

This year, lack of big men doomed the tide.

So honestly, the only thing he has done wrong is recruiting/develop big men. Doesn't help that injuries have taken place this year, as well. I think Nick Jacobs would be much better if 100%

I think this post is spot on. Expectations are unrealistic for Bama fans who think Grant is a bad/average coach.

There is nobody available that will fair any better at a FOOTBALL school. Obviously,he is a defensive guru, but knows nothing of offense. That said,he is doing what he is suppose to. We are 6-2 in conference. If this record was the opposite then you could have legitimate reason to bitch. Without Releford,we are 500 at best in conference play

This is a terrible argument. Alabama in the past has had plenty of success in basketball. While it might take some time to find the right guy. I see no reason why we should accept not making the tournament year in and year out. While, we are not on the same level as Flordia, would you consider them a "FOOTBALL" school.

No I do not expect to win the SEC every year, but we should be more competitive.

Only reason we are 6-2 this year in conference is because the SEC is seemingly historically bad this year. Hell this team lost to Mercer and Tulane.

We're shooting 36% from 3, that's pretty damn strong. Especially when the same guys shot 25% last season.

The two should not be mutually exclusive. it is possible to have a strong football and a strong basketball program at the same time. See Florida. See Ohio State. There are others.
Look at Bama. Using logic about no other sport can do well at a football school, why do we pack out Coleman Coliseum for gymnastics?

I'd jizz all over myself if we got Bruce.

I thought AG was gonna be the guy when we first got him. His lack of recruiting decent big guys though is going to be his detriment. If you arent going to have a big guy worth a shite, you have to have phenomenal small guys. Our perimeter guys are good, but they are by no means phenomenal. They are plenty good enough though if they had a big man or 2 underneath.

And for the love of God can we please get a true PG and be done with it.
