How does a 16-team conference determine who the top two teams are to play in the SEC CG?

You can't base it on conference records as schedules will be apples and oranges and the sample size of 8-games is insufficient.
There will no longer be divisions (thankfully). As over the past decade the west has been MUCH stronger than the east. Misery has played in the SEC CG twice for crying out loud!
Do they form a committee, similar to the CFB Playoff to determine the two best teams?
Use polls? Who votes? Why should national polls determine conference rankings? Would non-con games effect the poll?
Computer rankings?
What happens if there's a tie between multiple teams with the same record and no head to head match-up?
Does strength of schedule factor in? if so, school A shouldn't be punished if school B's SOS is higher within the conference as they had nothing to do with the scheduling.
Without divisions, I feel that you need at least a 10-game conference schedule to determine the two best teams and that still leaves questions.
Don't know the answers, but these are legitimate concerns in my opinion.

Texas fans need not worry about the SECCG at all.

Bet you'll change your tune if a 1-loss Alabama is left out.
This is going to be a problem!

Actually, the can base it off of conference record & total record. Top 2 teams will play for the SEC Championship.

Rankings by conference record.
Commissioner Saban will determine who goes if records are equal.

You are new and obviously don't know how college football works in these parts. BAMA has been known to simply move on to the Playoff without a SECCG.
When 12 get in you will see that a whole lot more grasshopper.

Texas needs to try and match Baylor and K-State’s three Big12 championships since 2000 before that shite is permanent

Bama gets a bye to the sec title game
It’s the only fair thing to do

According to 247, horn probably gets:

11. In the event of a tie in the final standings, the team with the longest affiliation with the conference will be chosen.

How can you base it off conference record when you don't even play half the conference?
What's the tiebreaker ... other than head-to-head. How does that work when three teams tie and only two have actually played each other?
Why should non-conference records be included? Non-conference schedules vary ever more than the conference schedules.

Conference record first, then they may base it off of playoff rankings.
I think the big12 almost had to do this with OU/tech/Texas/okst one year. They had a plan in place but someone lost in the last game of the year so it all fell into place.
I agree that conference schedules will be apples v or oranges for 2024.

I bet beyond head to head tiebreaker, they'll use something like longest absence from SECCG as a tiebreaker.

It's... beautiful. Except for Missouri.

How? pods. 4 4 teams pods with quasi divisions.
As an aside, are Texas fans concerned with this? They couldn’t compete in the joke that was the biggish 12, how in the hell do they expect to be 500 in the SEC.

You are needlessly worrying your little flat head over something you cannot control.

I'm well aware of Alabama's reputation and history. Y'all will likely always make the CFB playoff until Saban retires regardless of whether you make the SEC CG or not.
I feel these are legitimate questions and have nothing to do with any individual team or agenda. Late-November 2024 could be an absolute clown show.

You won’t have to worry about it. Texas will be in the bottom half of the conference
