How do you feel about the demise of conference championship games?

IMO, it’s the best thing about the expanded playoff. Regular season conference records will have restored meaning.

I like it because we haven’t won one since the 1960s and we suck at making them.

Kinda meaningless in this new era TBH.
Besides, all the teams that were ever gonna make a SECCG made it already.

Conference Championship had more meaning when we had divisions and everyone played everyone

At first I was for it...now I think it sucks.
I used to be very pro-playoff....Now I want the BCS back

I was here before the championship and I will be here afterwards.
Watching Penn St play Oregon in the Orange Bowl knowing that because Big Ten wasn’t in the Bowl coalition they weren’t getting a shot at #1
Then the BCS came and everyone was happy until you finished 5-10.
Playoffs got expanded then Notre Dame sat out a bowl game, FSU had almost all their starts sit against Georgia.
Now we are moving to a large field playoff which will kill bowl games permanently and eventually cause a split in NCAA division I sports due to NIL and competitive advantages.
I will still watch because there isn’t anything to replace it

The whole bowl "system" and the Conference Championship games were created in the 1980s/90s, largely by ESPN, largely as a money grab. Why people want to treat this as ancient sacred writ is beyond me.

With no more divisions, the point of the SECCG is already somewhat lost.

I better not see any Aggie's or Rebels commenting on this thread!
