Jerry Rice, Walter Payton, Steve McNair, and Brett Favre are all from Mississippi and not a single one of them played in the SEC. And it's not like State and Ole Miss couldn't have used them at the time. Just totally missed those guys.

Believe it or not, he had his heart set on USM but was hand delivered to OKLA by his most trusted ally. The head football coach at his high-school..

Had He gone to USM the man would have realized all he ever wanted out of football & life...and not suffered the severe bouts of depression and anxiety damage brought to bear by C. Barry Switzer and the okla off staff.

Truly a tragedy....

Would you believe Billy Cannon ran a 9.5 100 the same as Marcus Dupree?

San Diego is an easy sell compared to Bumfrick, Mississippi?
SDSU is not even 10 minutes from the ocean.

Oklahoma is a winning program.

Faulk wanted to play RB and everyone was recruiting him to play DB except SDST

San Diego State played in the WAC so the WAC over the SEC?

I was stationed in San Diego, it's cool but I wouldn't leave Louisiana for it.

Hard to believe he couldn't have talked some SEC school into letting him run the ball.

Very True. The same as Steve McNair. McNair was recruited by the other schools for DB. He wanted to play QB. The rest is history.

He said Marcus Dupree was the 2nd best, not the 2nd fastest

I thought you were being sarcastic, saying Dupree was faster than Cannon, but I looked up the times.

So in answer to your question, no I would not have thought that Cannon ran a 9.5, pretty amazing.

Faulk wasn't recruited as a running back. SDSU gave him the opportunity.

In an alternate universe, Jackie recruits Steve McNair at QB and Keyshawn Johnson academically qualifies at Mississippi State and starts opposite of Eric Moulds. Would have been crazy.
