How did the SEC lose out on...

.....Marshall Faulk, he was born and raised in Louisiana, so why San Diego State?
And, the same can be said about Marcus Dupree who was out of Mississippi, why Oklahoma?
Too bad Houston McTear the HS kid with 9.0 100 yard speed and a 13 yards a carry average at Baker HS in Florida couldn't make SEC academic's. Florida did try and recruit him.
Speaking of Florida, they are the only school to recruit a Japanese sprinter Sani Brown, who would end up winning the SEC 100m.

Are we just overrun with alters today?

Because playing in the SEC back then was a very touchy subject for blacks. Would you want to deal with the humiliation of playing in an environment with confederate flags flying everywhere? No sir. I'd haul my arse to Austin and play for the Longhorns.

Chicken likes to test us now and then.

And this answer is even worse than mine.

That one is pretty simple. Oklahoma offered the most $$$$

Some just want to play elsewhere. San Diego is a truly beautiful town, and LA is ... LA

Faulk played college ball in the early 90's not the 70's. Blacks in the SEC was no big deal by then.

Dupree is the 2nd best player from Philadelphia Mississippi.

Dupree is easy. Oklahoma just paid better.

Tuberville didn't remove the flags until the late 90s.

You reckon that Double Wide that his momma got after his first year was the only thing he received? Watch the 30 for 30

I do doubt all that race stuff had anything to do with anything.

Many recruits have said that over the years. Why do you think Tuberville made the change in the first place? OM was content not winning anything and keeping their traditions until he got there. Now they don't win anything and they don't have any traditions.
